Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing was bad at all, except the Great British Weather.
Everything. The location was beautiful, convenience for getting to Alton towers but more than anything we felt welcome and very comfortable. The bath is well worth it too. Oh and Rocket the cat 🖤

United KingdomThe stovetop kettle provided was old and rusty, so instead we used a little pot to heat our water for coffee. It might be nice to have a path leading from the Parlour to the Swedish hot tub, so you don't have to walk over grass to get there (it was wet when we stayed and so we got a bit muddy).
The Parlour is very charming and perfectly located on a lovely farm. Though it sits beside the host's house, it's situated to provide plenty of privacy. The hosts are super helpful and I'd definitely recommend using the Swedish hot tub. The hosts got it started for us while we were at Alton Towers for the day and made sure we knew how to keep it going.

Beautiful rural location surrounded by fields, shepherd's hut was clean, warm and very comfortable, beautifully finished inside. Enjoyed sitting outside in the evening using the fire pit & watching the cows. Hosts were extremely accomodating and very helpful. Enjoyable walks from the property too.

United KingdomThere isn't really anything to complain about. I guess, a cover for the BBQ might make it more accessible inbetween bad weather, but that's about it.
The space was beautiful, cozy, warm, comforting and really practical for a few days away. The hosts were friendly, accomodating and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

United Kingdomwas a really nice accommodation log fire but we didn’t use it as it was warm enough not to use it. table folds down and the bed comes out of the wall. great design with wardrobe. outside lighting to sit outside in your very own private garden at night with a log fibre outside too. great for visiting Alton towers as it’s only a 7 minute drive, you’re practically on the same road all the way to Alton Towers

We loved it here. It was a unique property in a lovely rural, quiet location. The property was finished to a high standard and very clean. The hosts lived on site should you need them. There was a cafe, farm shop and pub with great food within an easy walk.

United KingdomKitchenette had no oven or microwave , stayed 2 nights and planned to eat in the 1st night so took food which we had to throw away which is ok but if we had known there wasn’t an oven and microwave we wouldn’t have taken it. Also would recommend cushions on table seating area as very uncomfortable sitting on hard wood and was plenty of space to store them when bed is pulled down. Had to keep bed pulled down for somewhere soft to sit however…. Pull down bed had very thin mattress was literally like sleeping on the wooden bed base had to put pillows underneath us for extra comfort and use towels as pillows. A real shame as loved the cosy quaint shepherds hut.
Loved the parlour as was cosy and warm and quiet with lovely facilities, staff very friendly, gave us lots of info on arrival.

United KingdomNot so much dislike, but the mattress was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. This would literally be the only thing, but not worth complaining about at all. I think we’re just a bit too used to our Emma mattress. The stay couldn’t have been better for us, thank you!
A unique and very cosy little hut. Very clean with amenities and facilities in brilliant condition. Lovely views onto the fields, all rounder little property.

United KingdomOur only little niggle was that while the mattress was soft, the bed ended up being a little too hard for us. If you have any joint/muscle-related soreness I’d recommend just bringing a mattress topper!
A very convenient location and beautiful hut and surroundings. We loved the design of the Parlour and waking up to the fields and seeing the dairy cows outside in the evening. The hut was pristine and very well looked after with everything we needed. Our hosts were very welcoming and recommended nearby places to visit and eat (we’re off to Calke Abbey today at their recommendation!). The nearby Tavern was a great place to eat in the evening and super-close. We will definitely be back!

United KingdomNot sure if we had the only key but was surprised to find at no point was the room checked over while we were out; for example the bin was not emptied. We were only there two nights though so no biggie.
Beautiful quiet location just a short bus ride away from Alton Towers. The cabin is cozy, warm (even during a heavy downpour!) and the transformable table/bed set up is very clever. Being greeted by the lovely dog, cats and chickens was a treat too!

United KingdomWe enjoyed our stay thoroughly, maybe the check in could be slightly earlier 3pm and check out 11am but again we didn’t have any problem just to make the stay be a bit longer 😉 maybe in the future it would be great to arrive slightly earlier…
I’ve booked The Parkour after a friend of mine stayed there in January and she was super happy, I saw her photos and thought it would be great for the Jubilee weekend. My and my husband really enjoyed our weekend there, lovely hosts Tessa & David made us very welcome and we will be definitely back!
