Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFeel that the check in times could be altered slightly. Appreciate that guidelines were set during covid, but things have changed quite substantially now, so feel 16.00 hours check could be moved an hour forward at least. Specifically as you require quests to vacate by 10.00am
Location was fantastic, quiet & off road, but easily accessible to amenities Very clean & really well equipped

United KingdomThe car parking was a bit of a pain. We had to use google to find out how to operate the cooker.
It was in a great location in the centre of town. The shops, restaurants and bars were all close by. There were everything we needed for our stay. A great outside space that was good for our small dog.

United KingdomAlthough not a particularly onerous task, being asked to strip beds and place laundry in bags, which was common practice in the immediate aftermath of covid, is probably an outdated request nowadays,
Great location for the centre of Leyburn but set back from the main street, so very quiet. Well equipped and comfortable. A very enjoyable place to stay.

United KingdomOnly negative ( and I’m being picky) the downstairs was extremely cold when we arrived. Just could have done with the radiators being on just to take the edge off for when we got there.
Location is great! Just a short walk from the main square where the shops, pubs and restaurants are. Loved the log burner just what we needed! Alison the house manager was great too. Kept us up to date on when the internet was down, and suggested a great walk for the next day - The shawl. Fabulous!

United KingdomIt was a bit tricky to get the water temperature right in the shower as the water took a while to warm up and it was a shame there was no where to sit at the rear of the property to enjoy the view but these are minor issues that didn’t spoil our stay. The picture of the property is a bit deceiving as it makes it appear that the property is surrounded by countryside on all sides.
This is one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed in! The kitchen is well equipped, sofas really comfy as are the beds. We loved the board games and the log burner was nice and cozy. Nicely decorated with lots of interesting and decorative pictures on the walls. A real home from home. A real bonus were the maps which we used for a nice walk to the waterfall. The Chinese takeaway across the road is amazing!

United KingdomReally clean and well equipped, had everything we needed for the four of us. Plenty of glassware and mugs to ensure we weren’t continually using the dishwasher. Beautifully laid out and wonderfully clean. There had been some issues the week before we were due to come and the communication and problem solving around this was excellent. Location is fantastic. Just off the main square and in walking distance of all local amenities. Dog friendly too which is fab as there are so many dog friendly places to explore nearby. We also received a message from the house manager the night of our check in to make sure everything was ok. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back!

United KingdomMaster bed was very soft, would recommend sleeping in the smaller bedroom. Water supply was so noisy!! We couldn’t run the taps when the children were asleep as it woke them up.
Really beautiful property, finished to a high standard, great location for the activities we wanted to do. People in the village were really friendly. No parking but was no hassle at all to park on the main car park for the village. Coop within walking distance was well stocked. Great communication from owners.

United KingdomThe Old Chapel is postcard pretty, and seeing it in real life for the first time, walking down the narrow lane off Railway Street was just magic. Perfectly situated in the centre of Leyburn, it is walking distance to everything you need or could want in town, as well as the beautiful walk The Shawl (a must-do). It had the most thoughtfully and thoroughly stocked kitchen I have ever had in a rental, with every utensil we could want or need to cook (or bake!) at home. The decor was tasteful and elegant. It had all the convenience of being in town, and all the charm of a country cottage. Jade was so lovely to deal with too. We highly recommend The Old Chapel, and would love to return.
