We stayed at the Municipal Hotel in Liverpool this September.   The overall experience was excellent. Room was nice, clean, and well presented. Only issue would be the mirror is in the corner of the room near the door and it was quite dark even with the lights on. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a great location. Although the bar is expensive it is a nice area to have a drink and relax. Maybe would be nice to give a small discount per drink for guests who are staying at the hotel.   We opted not to have breakfast in the hotel but did have a meal as we had an email promising a half price email and a free bottle of bubbly which they honored no questions asked even though the woman who agreed the discount had left the business.   The food was lovely, but I would like to give a special mention to our waiter in the restaurant Mike Douglas. He was exceptional in every aspect.   He was friendly, very knowledgeable, down to earth, polite, and just made the over all dining experience spot on. He was passionate about his job and working for the hotel and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed the full experience.   He is an asset to the hotel.   We would definitely stay again and because of the service in the restaurant would be happy to eat there again.

Rooms and corridors you can see they have tried, however they just miss the mark of a true five star hotel for me. Lacked the luxury feel of the main lounge and spa (just a bit cold looking). Further charging hotel guest £50pp to use the spa area (pool, steam, sauna etc etc.) I thought was bad taste, when all 5 star hotels I have stayed in offer it inclusive if staying in the hotel.

The main lounge is very attractive and comfortable. Good service, ambience, and nice place to sit and have drink day or evening. Spa was great too.

Fresh towels provided but couldn’t use as had stains on them. However, new towels were provided when requested. Only criticism of room was we could have benefited from coat hooks and wardrobe on the small size

I must say, I got a tad disappointed to know the Spa and the Pool weren't included in the price (my mistake), but from my experience compared to the other reviews, if I paid 20£, I could use the pool for up to 4 hours which isn't expensive. Not trying to be picky, but there was an empty can of beer hidden in the wardrobe, besides that, everything was exceptionally clean and tidy and no complaints to be made.

For an hotel, this place feels like (and even better than) home. The Staff was extremely nice and friendly, they were able to do an early check-in and provide all the answers to the questions I had. They also have a type of Easter Egg/Scavenger Hunt for the more adventurous people that want to explore the hotel (at no additional charge) and have some included prizes and rewards, which unfortunately, I did not have time to participate in. The room I stayed in was super cozy, it was well equipped with an electric kettle, mini fridge, safe, good decoration (the bed even had 7 pillows! Yes I used them all, well, half), and the shiny cleaned en-suit bathroom provided way more than I was expecting, the toiletries were stocked, and got the chance to have my own bathrobe. Additionally, the room also has a really tall ceiling and windows, curiously enough, I've never been in a place like it, which made me feel like I was in a giants bedroom. I can't say much as I've only had the chance to stay for a night, definitely coming back and staying longer when the opportunity arises. Thanks for reading!

There was nothing not to like, my only criticism is the spa which there is a extra charge for, the sauna didn't seem to be working properly it was not ver warm the steam room was good but the third room l am not sure what that was for there didnt seem to be any warmth at all in there. When lusually l stay at other hotels the spa/pool is always included and l did not feel the extra charge was warranted for the facilities.

All the staff were very helpful, polite, and professional , especially the reception and concierge staff,, l was travelling on my own and the concierge helped in booking my tour bus ticket and advised of the places to visit his knowledge of Liverpool was very good, the reception staff were very helpful in advising of direction to places and advice on where to east/drink. I will definitely return to this hotel for my next stay in liverpool

The pool not being available without surcharge , Ordered same drink within a few minutes at palm , totally different drinks came when we tried to rectify it , an effort was made but still wasn’t as nice as original cocktail , so maybe more attention to the cocktail training , although seemed the more junior staff were making the nicer ones

Daniel at reception was amazing really started our trip off brilliantly , a total vibe , also got fabulous chocolates for our anniversary really nice touch

Our room felt a bit dated and basic (the one we booked couldn’t be used as there was an issue with the air conditioning unit). There was also a mix up at dinner regarding the wine we ordered and whilst this was ‘resolved’ on reflection we did still pay more than the one we ordered (which was out of stock and therefore substituted).

The ambience and feel of the cocktail bar, the location was great and the staff very helpful.

Not very good value for money with regard to the facilities. The breakfast was very expensive and the quality didn’t reflect the price. I also think access to the swimming pool at least should be included in the room price. The extra charge for the pool / spa was unreasonable for only 2 hours access and the timings didn’t fit with our trip.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The decor was beautiful, particularly the bar area. Lovely room with a very comfortable bed.
