My bedroom was a little small and the "view" was of a housing estate opposite. But I was only there for one night and not for sightseeing!

Room 1. We asked for a quiet room, but I believe the room was situated over the kitchen, reception area. So all night you would hear a door shutting/banging below our room which disturbed our sleep. The room was adequate, a little on the small size. No wardrobes, just a few hangers on a open rail in the corner of the room. We placed a sign on the door to not be disturbed or the room made up, but came back from a day out to find this request had been ignored.

The food at the premises was superb, breakfast, continental, full English, pastries, fruit, cereals, yogurts, juices, tea coffee and evening meals if you wished to purchased The bar was a great. So everything you need on the premises. Staff all very pleasant and happy to talk to and very helpful. The room was adequate, did have a fantastic king size bed, but the room was rather on the small size. No area to really move around in. The free parking was a brilliant feature. Hotel not far from the M4. So easy assess to the south and north of the country. If doing the Newbury races. Hotel is right next to the course. Near to the Nutfield Health Fitness Centre, which can use at an extra cost. (We never got the chance due to a busy few days)

When we arrived the heating has been on full blast, so it was very hot!! It also was quite difficult to find.

Just small things. No drawer space - very necessary! The staff were I'm afraid, with the exception of Reception, far from pleasant and not welcoming which gave off a cool atmosphere rather than a warm one. I am assuming that Racegoers always return as it's convenient so staff perhaps don't have to try too hard or the Racegoers are great tippers which earns them a smile. Food supplies would be a great asset after 9 pm if only sandwiches. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. You did ask!

As a vegan it is appreciated that there is vegan yogurts and 4 types of milk alternatives for breakfast! As well the vegan full English is great. The beds are big and comfy!

Parking was plentiful and we parked within a few yards of the entrance. Check in was very quick and the receptionist was very helpful, friendly and professional. The room was very comfortable, we didn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms or outside and the bed was very comfortable. The food was 'pub' type food with a limited choice but enough to suit almost everyone and was very tasty and good value.

Room was compact but comfortable. Staff were all very nice and helpful. We arrived early, not expecting to have access to our room but the receptionist checked if it was ready and was happy for us to check in. Easy parking.

We found the room was small and compact , needs updating, i.e.( charge sockets) , decor needs attention in places . Didn't like view, small window and door joining room . Wasn't a king size bed but two put together , not ideal to stay any longer than one nite . There was webs above blind and dark hairs on bedding on arrival .

The only thing I didn't like was the food. You could tell it was of a high standard and quality ingredients however the burger I had was literally a cremated burger in a burnt bun which the cheese, that I am pretty sure I paid more for, was almost see-through and it didn't come with and salad in the burger or sauce so was very very dry in the end. Breakfast which was included also had good quality meats, but you could tell it had either been under a hot plate or was over cooked.

The room and the whole hotel was of a higher standard and the bed was more than comfortable.

I arrived and had a lovely greeting, very nice and polite by Edna and then Will, exactly what i needed after arriving from Bristol on my bike, aching and in need of shower, food and a beer. Thank you Edna for sorting out my then, non charging phone. Day 2 would have been very difficult without it. 😃 The price for b&b was the best in the area, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful, and the cooked was very enjoyable. All in all, I had a great time at this facility for my 1 night stay with the spectacular racecourse as a backdrop on the way in. Perfect place for my needs, all the staff I met evening and morning made me happy I'd chosen The Lodge. 👍
