Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bathroom did not have any hand soap, and when I went to have a shower there was not shower it was only a tub. The water pressure was great just that the taps was loose.
The room size was great , all the amenities were super. Parking was great and easy. Overall the stay was great as it was very peaceful and I enjoyed the stay.

United KingdomWindow blinds are not in great condition. Bit of a weird arrangement of wardrobe cupboard glass doors… makes it risky to open them as the door closure hinge hits one of them, would probably make better sense to simply remove them and leave the cupboard completely open but easily accessible.
Quiet room, location great for visiting friends and family, near the motorway. Aldi and Tesco are close enough for snacks, or splash out by eating in the attached restaurant. Love the late 11am check out time. Cleaning lady is always very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe property could benefit from some refurbishment. They unfortunately experienced an unexpected issue with the boiler whilst we were there which affected the heating and hot water.
The property is clean and the cleaning lady was so helpful and welcoming. The location is ideal and situated in a quiet village with nice walks and pubs.

United KingdomOn arrival there was no signage to state what new arrivals should do. I collected my door key from the bar but in the morning of my check-out I could not understand where to drop off my key. I wandered round the pub and couldn't see any key box or letterbox so I left my key in my room with the door unlocked as I Ieft. The room signage was also very poor, the number had been written in biro and wasn't easy to see. There was no milk cartons but there was some biscuits, teabags and coffee sachets along with sugar. The bathroom was in a state of disrepair, the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and there was a large open gap where some boarding was missing from the end of the bath. The shower itself wasn't very good and needs replacing if it was up to me. On entry the room was stiflingly hot but I was able to open windows and shut off the heating at the radiators. Sadly on a Sunday the Bar stops doing food at 5pm and doesn't do breakfasts at all (even though I'm sure I read somewhere that it did). I visited the local Co-op and got some food from there. In summary of negatives I would suggest improved information signage all round.
Car parking was plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Olive Bar & Grill is very nice inside and serves a nice pint of Coors lager. The room is clean and the bed very comfy if you like a soft bed. Towels are provided and are very clean and soft. I had a super nights sleep, the place is very quiet indeed. In summary it was good value for money and I would stay there again if necessary. It's perfect if you are visiting the new crematorium just down the road.

United KingdomMy only complaint is that the acoustic insulation between the rooms isn't the best.
I and family have used The Lodge a few times when visiting relatives in the area. We like the fact that although cheap, the rooms are quite a good size and they are kept very clean. They have everything you need for a short stay, even the tea caddy is well stocked. The Olive is only a few yards away for a meal. It is excellent value for money.

United KingdomSome things are a bit tired looking, so just a few minor negatives; wooden pipe concealer box had a detached panel, some grubby marks on the blinds, bedroom was toasty warm but bathroom was a little cold, bath taps were loose
The bedroom was in a lovely separate lodge building which was quiet so slept well, family room was fairly large, bed was comfortable, excellent location close to Doncaster, friendly staff, a very welcome later check out than advertised on booking.com (11am, not 10am), lovely restaurant and bar in nearby building, lots of car parking available but could get busy as it's the car park for the restaurant as well.

United KingdomThe prices behind the bar are quite expensive. And I struggled to find out where to leave the key, albeit it was 10:30 in the morning. Eventually left it in the lodge, hope it was OK.
The place was very welcoming, Clean, and the room was just right for an overnight stay.

United KingdomSadly only had complimentary shampoo and hand cream (that was probably past its use by date) I was missing soap and sadly had left my own at home. I was missing a bath towel too but I asked the staff and they could not apologise enough and sorted me out quick aharp.
The room seemed a little tired but it was perfectly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Considering it is next to the pub/grill I was not in the least disturbed by noise. The meals were a bonus very tasty and on special promo's being mid week.

United KingdomThere were no toiletries in the room. Some hand soap would have been good. The headboard was broken on one of the beds and so banged on the wall every time my daughter moved in bed. Only one pillow on each bed needs two, really. There was no breakfast available. The radiator in the bedroom didn't work but was only staying there one night, so it didn't ruin our stay.
The location was good and it was in a quiet area. The room was a good size. There was lots of lighting in the room, which was good, and it was handy having a hair dryer. The bathroom radiator was very warm. Tea and coffee provided.
