Restricted to one, evening, menu. So, if you don't like the menu choice of the day, you have to go elsewhere to eat. However, it was a 5 course menu and other guests did say the menu was cooked to perfection, at £59 is good value for money.

Wonderful location, excellent views of cat bells and Skiddaw. Large windows with heated seating (if and when required), framed the view of the fells perfectly. Large rooms and large bathroom with bath and separate shower. Rooms clean and staff very accommodating.. Breakfast choices were excellent.

If you don’t order the tasting menu in advance there’s no meal available. The nearest hotel is only 10m walk up the road but you do need to book.

Having to preorder breakfast night before. No other food on offer except their “tasting” menu which rotates every 3 days and again has to be ordered night before. So if u arrive hungry you have no choice of any food that day. Bar very small and although excellent decor no welcoming atmosphere. Lounge has constant piped music

Room (basic one) felt a little tired and dated. If you want dinner, book well in advance because they have very few tables (this was not made very clear to us)

Beautiful and tranquil setting. Easy enough to access by car and bus, but also set back from the road so no sound of cars. Rolling hills and cattle roaming all around. Perfect location to start a walk around Borrowdale (we did Catbells - fantastic, but steep) Staff very helpful and friendly. Shower very powerful and hot. Special mention for breakfast: great idea to order via QR code the previous evening. Very good quality ingredients, and lots of options!!!

Only issue we had was with the stone chippings on the paths and driveway outside which meant we had to carry our heavy suitcases from the car rather than wheeling them along

Hotel has some wonderful bits, but bedroom was charged at a premium rate and was very average. Maybe just the room I had, but very average furniture and decor. Overpriced.

There was only one dinner menu that you needed to book 24hours in advance in person. We arrived at 8pm and there were no food options available to us. We were also not asked about whether we would like to reserve a dinner spot for the following night. When we requested a dinner reservation the following morning it was uncertain whether a place would be available. Luckily a placement was confirmed throughout the day and the meal was delicious.

The location offers a splendid view of hills and valleys. Staffs were very good and helpful. Breakfast includes a lot of variety with delicious and healthy food items. Enjoyed our stay.
