Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly missed not having a kettle for making a cup of tea as only coffee machine present
This was a very comfortable and well thoughtout room. Loved the John Lewis down/feather duvet and spacious bathroom. Perfect location but quiet room. Very responsive host (re parking).

United KingdomNo kettle or teabags, and tiny espresso cups.
Room 2 is very small but perfectly comfortable, and the shower is fantastic! Lots of lovely touches and the coffee machine is lovely, but please put a kettle (and bigger mugs!) in there? Not everyone is a coffee drinker, and my husband would have loved to have been able to make a cup of tea. Parking is easy and cheap in the multi-storey a few minutes' walk away, and communication of entry-codes was prompt and efficient. Great value for the centre of Canterbury. We'd definitely stay again, but we'd bring our own kettle.

United KingdomGiven the absolute attention to detail, could have done with one of the many well positioned sockets to have a USB socket (unless we missed it). A very fancy coffee machine but one of us likes tea. But there is a really great independent tea/coffee shop opposite for a takeway.
Great Location. Really well thought out room and a very comfortable bed. Outstanding shower room. Exceeded expectation for price

United KingdomWe would have loved a later check out, but that wasn’t possible.
The check in was super easy and fully automated, all instructions were sent via Booking and by text in advance, which we really appreciated! The room was super clean, gorgeous design and layout, very comfortable! It’s also right in the centre of town, so super easy to get to every part of Canterbury on foot (max 20 mins even to the farthest point of interest). Highly recommend!

United KingdomNo on site parking (understandably due to location). Local authority car parks were expensive (£2.50 per hour daytime). Only coffee maker provided. No provision for tea drinkers.
Good location for the city centre. Close to the Cathedral and main sights. Host was very helpful with all questions asked.

NetherlandsThe walls are rather thin, so it is easy to hear noise from the other rooms and the hallway. Keep that in mind when you move around and maybe bring earplugs.
Perfect location to explore Canterbury. Parking space available at just 5 a minute walk away. Rooms are small, but stylish and very practically furnished and the bathroom is rather spacious. Checkin is automated, instructions were very clear and all was well prepared. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you plan to spend more than 2/3 nights, because then I would feel it is a bit too small, but it had all the convenience we were looking for during our short stay.

GermanyShower gel provided at 2,- GBP per small tube (single use) - and you need to call the concierge to arrange payment before use??? Some leftover buns, juice, etc. in kitchen/fridge. Not sure if it was meant as a welcome gift, but as the stuff was already open, we left it alone.
Brilliant location in the city centre, car park in easy walking distance. Well equipped, modern and clean. Perfect for up to 4 persons (family or couples).

United KingdomLiked it all but as no.2 is a small room, would select a larger room if staying more than a couple of nights.
Great central location, which I thought might be noisy but we didn't hear any street noise. A small comfortable air conditioned bedroom with everything we needed. You can switch the air conditioning off if you don't want it on. Lovely high quality bathroom with rainfall shower. Would definitely stay again.
