Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing. Only that we couldn't stay longer.
Rachael was fantastic. We would come back again just for her hosting. The house and the room were charming and very conformable. Breakfast was excellent. Location perfect.

United KingdomRachael is an amazing host. Amazing breakfast served in the kitchen. A real family feel to the house - home from home....although this house from 1520 is a little older than ours!

United KingdomDifficult to fault- we had a lovely weekend!
Location was perfect on Mermaid St- right in the centre just a few minutes from the station. Rachael was the perfect host with plenty of recommendations for us and cooked a lovely breakfast on both mornings we were there. The room we had was huge with tea and coffee making facilities and a good sized bathroom. We also met another couple at breakfast which was lovely too! Highly recommended to stay there if looking for somewhere less formal than a hotel with all the comforts.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn’t like is that I had to go home!
Everything about my stay was perfect. The house is beautiful, it was amazing to stay somewhere with so much history and on such a lovely street. My room was gorgeous and cosy, and I loved sitting by the window to do some people watching. Rachael is a fantastic host who has great recommendations about the local area, and made delicious breakfasts and cakes each morning. I also met her little dog who is adorable!!

Rachael was the perfect host, made us feel right at home. She made us a delicious breakfast each morning and was available for whatever we needed. She gave us many great recommendations for things to do in Rye. The room was simply stunning, and furnished beautifully. As there are only a couple of bedrooms it is very quiet and feels wonderfully secluded. We had the best time and will be back! Thank you Rachael for everything!

United KingdomNo problems
Good communication before our stay. Our host was very welcoming. The building has a lot of character and we had the run of the whole place. The room was very large - more like a suite than a room. The location was excellent, within a couple of minutes of the main town.

United KingdomTall people be warned about head-banging risk with the old beams!
This was outstanding. The House is absolutely beautiful - old world charm with immaculate attention to detail in the decor and aesthetic. It was completely charming and romantic. Rachel was the consummate host - friendly, cooked an incredible breakfast, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay, not just at the House with Two Front Doors but for our trip to Rye in general (suggestions for eating out, walks etc).

United KingdomThat we had to leave. There really wasn't anything that we didn't like - if I had to find one thing. Our breakfast on the 2nd morning wasn't as great as our first, but it was still great.
We loved everything... the atmosphere, hospitality, breakfast and unbeatable location. Absolutely everything Rachael has put together in her home has created the most welcoming atmosphere. A home away from home. There couldn't be a more welcoming and friendly host, full of charm and spirit. If you're looking for a boring, straight-laced, and by-the-book (yawn) accommodation - do not stay here. We will definitely be coming back again, and we can't wait for more catch-ups by the fire and long naps in the character-filled bedrooms. Thank you for creating such a haven for us to explore Rye from, Rachael.

United KingdomThe homemade breakfast in the large kitchen was very good. The big bed was very comfortable but it sloped slightly as the floor of the 400 year old house had quite a slope. Rachel was very welcoming and helpful and the lounge with the log fire was a real treat when reading the newspapers.
