Fun, social stay with friends overlooking the river

We ate in the restaurant (7.30pm) and felt a bit rushed. All the food came really quickly and would have much preferred to have been given a bit more time. Room was fairly hot during the night and no A/C.

Lovely river setting and lucky enough with the weather to sit outside for the afternoon. Vibrant social space outside with lots of non-staying guests using the bar. Enjoyed the cocktails. Rooms were clean and tidy.

We were made to feel uncomfortable by our breakfast choices. The waiter saying we were only allowed to choose one thing from the menu, after we told him what we wanted restrictions werent given as he handed us the menu. But he resolved this quickly and the food again was delicious.

The room was lovely clean and modern decor. We booked dinner for the night of our stay which was surpurb and the staff were lovely.

The mattress springs were clunky and uncomfortable - could do with a new mattress! Quite a few stairs up and down to the room. The room and en-suite were on the small side.

The room and en-suite was very clean. We had a nice view of the River Wye. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order, good ingredients and delicious. Dinner was very good, staff friendly and attentive, relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of seating in the grounds of the Hope and Anchor overlooking the river, outside bar serving drinks, ice-cream and snacks. Good walks from the pub.

Mattress seemed to sink in the middle and ultra small bathroom sink. But otherwise bedroom very spacious and clean with lovely roomy shower.

Lovely riverside position, excellent restaurant and food with very good staff. Plenty of riverside parking. Easy stroll into good town of Ross on Wye.

The location was surberb and with ambience to match.Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very good indeed. Only negative was the room was above the kitchen and the extraction fan was very noisy but stopped at 9pm ( as advised) which didn't impact on sleeping.

Only two negatives the room that we stayed in the wash basin was very small, and the key hole was not set correctly which made it rather frustrating trying to unlock and lock the door.

The breakfast was served in a clean and bright area. A good selection of breakfasts to choose from full English, omelettes, egg benedictine and porridge with maple syrup and toasted pecans, to pork & leak sausage with bacon sandwich. All the the staff were very polite and friendly. The Hope and Anchor has been a beautifully restored property, serving a great selection of beers and wines, also an excellent selection of meals. A five minutes walk from the town centre. Would recommend to family and friends.
