Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bedroom decor was a bit dated, the carpet and the curtains, the rest of the room was completely fine, so just minor things. Also the 10.00 fee to use the spa facilities when staying at the hotel, seems a bit counterproductive to the business model, other competitors across Torquay such as TLH offer their leisure facilities as part of the room rate paid, mybe Headland hotel could increase its prices to then allow the customer not to pay for the spa as well. I also checked on their website and could not find any mention of breakfast times and dinner times, it mentioned everything else but this important bit of information. Mondays to Fridays 07:30 to 09:30 Saturday and Sunday 08:00 to 10:00 Dinner From 18:00 daily I mentioned this to the female head of reception on Monday 24/06 and she advised she would pass this on so times could not be put onto website to help customers, she was polite about it.
I liked the bathroom decor as it was modern, I also liked the breakfast items. They did not have sliced avocado out on the buffet trays however I asked, and this was no problem for the kitchen, avocados to have with the eggs. Nice communal areas where you can sit and look out to sea, which is very peaceful. The dining room overlooks meadfoot beach.

United KingdomThe front of house staff are great. Our room was dated but ok, though the bathroom was dirty. We booked dinner - we had the vegetarian option and it was really disappointing - chips, peas and a cooked frozen piece of fake meat, like a kids meal really. The spa area is nice (no pool but longer hot tub style pods), really peaceful and spent a nice hour in there. Breakfast ok but not much selection. We will normally just eat whatever’s going but did feel at this hotel that we should have eaten elsewhere. A nights dinner, bed and breakfast was very expensive for what you get. There were beautiful walks just outside the hotel where you can walk along the cliff path.

United KingdomDates rooms , they have a late 90s feel , old red carpets and wood chip wallpaper , bed wasn’t very comfortable on a sprung mattress and shower was tired and door was clunky , lots of touch ups have happened with silicone and grout in the bathroom just makes it feel tired overall , shame as the hotel and common areas are really nice.
Amazing location and views Common areas as very nice Staff were all very friendly and helpful Breakfast was nice and breakfast staff again very friendly and helpful

United KingdomThe room seemed a bit outdated with an old wardrobe and cabinet and two single beds pushed together. Not much parking with first come first served so is limited.
Good sea view and nice location, easy scenic walk into Torquay that took around 15/20 mins, also a short walk down the hill to a cafe on the seafront. Very nice garden and patio area to sit out in. breakfast was very good and eat as much as you wanted ans the dining room had good sea views.

United KingdomUnfortunately the room left us feeling deflated, you need to clean by the side of beds as cobwebs and pills on floor. Bathroom is wonderful but you need to get a new toilet seat, and you need to cover side of toilet. Decor was bland and furniture needs replacing. Voile net curtains.
The wonderful staff, the massage and spa. Food was amazing. And the views were amazing

AustraliaToo many stairs with heavy luggage with no life facilities to many of the floors. Bed was only a queen when, as we were in an executive suite, we expected a king. Buffet breakfast was absolutely overpriced with a limited selection which didn’t include anything one would expect for such an expense such as freshly poached eggs or made to order omelettes.
