Lovely find and perfect for a stop over before departing from Southampton dock. Venue beautiful, clean and staff very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Room was lovely and very well decorated. Definitely will visit again. Outdoor seating area is lovely.

The room was small, but it was what we expected from the photos so not a problem.

The food both in the evening and the included breakfast was excellent. EV charger was a bonus.

I like everything about hare and hounds. The rooms are so quirky, the walk in showers are brill and the food is exceptional. This was our 3rd time here, we always go with a group of friends and our stay is for the newbury races

We had evening meal as well as breakfast and found the staff excellent, for the evening l asked for a cheese boerd which they didn’t do but the young man went and checked and said that they could do two cheeses and some Melba toast which was great , 😊😊

We felt they didn't have enough staff - we had to wait a while before we were able to get checked in. At one point, we started being attended to, then the lady was interrupted by her manager to help other people - leaving us standing there! He was clearly in a rush, but didn't think about how rude that was to us? Again, at breakfast the next day, the food was delicious, but it took ages to arrive. I feel all of this could be solved by having more staff to help.

We did enjoy our stay there - the room was lovely - and also clean. We would return.

The ONLY thing I would say is that the location is a little out of Newbury. It is within walking distance but I'd say it's around a 25 minute walk each way. Taxis are however available from Newbury, and there are bus stops nearby too. There isn't a great deal in Speen, although the Kennet and Avon canal and river Kennet are both within a short walk and worth a stroll in a sunny day.

This place is a gem. A beautiful old coaching in on the a4 just outside of Newbury, the inn has been beautifully renovated and is now a really sumptuous, comfortable place to stay. The room was really spacious and the bed super comfortable. We really enjoyed the complimentary sloe gin too! The restaurant was also excellent, we had dinner there both nights, and breakfast was also great too. We stayed there because my wife had a business meeting, but this turned into a really lovely little excursion. Well recommended.

I couldn't open the window more than a few inches which made the room too hot! Presumably a Health & Safety issue.

The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The complimentary sloe gin was a nice touch. The room was of a good size, comfortable and clean. The shower was efficient.

It's not often you don't get a little biscuit to go with the coffee/tea ,but that's being very picky !

The facilities were fine . Shower was superb . The room was clean and beautifully presented. Staff were very good indeed . Very polite and friendly . We had a good nights sleep and although on the main road there was no undue noise. The restaurant is lovely . Breakfast was great, a nice selection . The position of The Hare and Hounds is great , just off the A34 so ideal if you're either visiting Newbury or travelling further towards Southampton etc .
