Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomJust a heads up really. The car park is about 200 yards away from the hotel, so be prepared to trundle your luggage along the road, or drop it off at the hotel before you park up.
We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package at The Hafod on a recent trip through mid Wales. There had been a mistake on their booking system as they had us down to stay on the following day, although all our emails and messages through Booking.com had the correct date. The young man on reception quickly resolved the problem and the housekeeping team prepared a room for us while we had a coffee in the bar. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The staff were all polite and friendly and the food was excellent.

NetherlandsThe bathroom was a bit cramped.
The "style" of the hotel in combination with its location. It's in the middle of nowhere yet with enough to do in the direct suroundings.

United KingdomBe aware there is no lift, there are three floors. Not an issue for us, but some may struggle. If I had to offer any criticism, which is begrudging because we had such a good stay, there's a few things that would have made our stay even better. We had looked ahead at the online menu in the restaurant, however the menu had been updated but not online. The online menu needs to be updated in a timely manner. The meals we were hoping to order weren't available. We found alternatives but remained slightly disappointed. The room was very lovely, pillows are good quality, but I'd advise pillow protectors to keep them in good condition, and possibly a cover for the duvet too to avoid stains. The sofa beds are not comfortable, maybe add a mattress topper for comfort. Put a hook at the end of the shower for a towel. The car park - it's huge but it requires some TLC, the entrance has pot holes, there's a couple of cars left there that don't make the car park feel secure. It is a short walk on a slope to the Hotel, it would be great to be able to walk through a woodland/ the old gardens again to be able to access the Hotel off the road, for safety.
The building has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored, using quality fittings and furnishings. The staff that we interacted with were great, friendly, helpful and human. I had a phone call before we arrived to check our room requirements, the staff upgraded us to a suite to ensure we had sufficient space. The room was indeed spacious, and it was quiet, and we had amazing views over the gorge. The bathroom is well thought out, with the shower controls away from the rainfall head, avoiding getting a soaking before turning on the shower. The main bed was large and comfortable, with high quality duvet and pillows. The towels were big and fluffy. There is a sofa and large T.V with tables in the sitting zone, and drinks making facilities available, we enjoyed the complimentary rather yummy shortbread. We sat in the bar and had a drink, we found it welcoming and comfortable, we dined in the restaurant, and had a really good breakfast. We most certainly want to return. Perfect location for exploring the Bridge and gorge and going to Aberystwyth on the little train. If you do go, be sure to check out the little chocolate shop opposite the train station, they hand make their own chocolates!

We’ve been visiting the Hafod for many years, but this was our first overnight stay, and it didn’t disappoint. The renovation is classy- our room was beautifully decorated and kitted out - lovely toiletries, comfortable bed etc. Loved the lighting and attention to detail. Food was outstanding as always, staff friendly and helpful. Well done all at the Hafod, you seem to be getting better and better 😍

United KingdomNo hand wash or toiletries in the bathroom and no shower mat available on site although we were given a spare towel to stand on in the shower. Although we had shampoo etc we ended up going to a shop to buy hand wash for the sink. It would have been helpful to know so we could have been better prepared. This was initially annoying but once sorted it was quickly forgotten as everything else about our stay was great.
Room was beautiful. View magnificent, food lovely, location fantastic and staff were so warm, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much and were sad to leave.
