Stairs, had 3 red floor room. But it was worth the hike 😂great view from room.

Loved the history and character of the property. Remodelled well and I keeping with the history with features kept and used to enhance the character.

Nothing spoilt our stay.

Check in was efficient and we felt welcomed. Location was convenient for the Vale of Rheidol Railway, with the Devils Bridge terminus just a few minuted walk from the hotel. We were satisfied with what we got in terms of service and attentive staff who were aiming to please in every. Perhaps 'mushrooms' was a slight exaggeration at breakfast - since it was one large mushroom - can't say that it made the breakfast any less satisfying though.

With some minor and easy to make adjustments this could improve guest experience:- Provide at least one bottle of water in the room per person as nothing was supplied for our one night stay. Large kettle is awkward to fill in bathroom as tap is a lovely modern design but over a quite shallow sink bowl. Quality toiletries but unfortunately single use - would have preferred to see more environmentally friendly packaging which many hotels have moved towards which are refillable. Hairdryer is poor quality - small “travel”size and smelled of burning. Bathroom heater is preset and cannot be increased- this meant bathroom was uncomfortably cold compared to bedroom. (Overnight outdoor temp was 6C. Bathroom mirror light is permanently on (which wasn’t a problem for us) but therefore need to keep door closed at night which meant the temperature drops in the bathroom compared to bedroom. Booked originally as saw frequent mention of 3 course meal included in price in reviews. However this is no longer the case and only two courses are offered . Communication about this could be improved. Several meal choices have a surcharge but these are clearly explained prior to any meal order being taken. Couple of staff seemed to lack experience - little interaction and appeared on moccasion a lack of interest in serving customers. Please dont misunderstand- I have no issue paying £225 for one night in quality accommodation. However, one thing that is difficult as a customer to understand is the logic behind on the checkout bill the room being shown separately as £175 and the Dinner package as £50. Our two evening meal preferred choices for starters and mains totalled £47.10 but still charged £50 and the extra full price for one dessert of £8.95.

Duke of Newcastle suite is large and very tastefully decorated with a combination of old and new styles. Lovely view of the valley from both bedroom windows. Cozy bedroom with good, controllable, heating. Exceptionally comfortable, high quality mattress, duvet and pillows. Had fantastic night sleep. Smart, modern bathroom and very clean with quality complimentary toiletries.

We stopped for a night away was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Staff were super friendly, room was clean and modern, bed was very comfy and the food for dinner and breakfast was faultless. Safe to say we will be recommending to all our family and friends and will be returning.

What a wonderful hotel I'll most certainly be back...we arrived early and was met by a lovely polite young man we explained about being a bit early and would it be OK to book in and he very kindly yes no problem.i was really impressed by the room it was very stylish beautifully clean and the bed was so comfy food is delicious and plentiful one of the best hotels I've stayed...Thank you to all the staff..
