Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe found the pool area a little disappointing, specifically the outdoor heated part. We thought that the garden surrounding it was a little uninspiring, scrubby looking and overlooked. Maybe a few fragrant plants like lavender and rosemary around to create an ambiance Gleneagles. There were a few pots which looked like they had seen better days a bit like my own patio. Also, beware of the extra charges on top of your bill. For one night, we were charged £60 discretionary service charge for room £34 discretionary service charge for leisure facilities (presume using the pool), the dog was charged £120, we were charged £60 for the Padel tennis court (they charged us for doubled court when it was singles) and they charged £270 for the Intro to Falconry, when we just booked for my daughter for £135. That is on top of discretionary service charges on top of food. It works out at a hell of a lot.
The staff were oh so nice and pleasant. No hard sell of anything, chatted without being overbearing or overfamiliar. Completely charming.

United StatesThere were a few mistakes on our order for lunch in the bar. However when I pointed it out, the staff were absolutely charming and sorted it out quickly.
Stunning. Inside and out. This gorgeous property has managed to retain its past grandeur yet updated the staff and services to a more contemporary sensibility.

The staff were so engaged and made the whole experience a delight. We were very impressed that the hotel offered a cooked vegetarian breakfast which we have never experienced before in a hotel of this calibre. Set in lovely grounds.

United KingdomI felt that as we booked through booking.com the room we got wasn't what we would have expected. No view but if you put in the requirements on the Gleneagles website you should have received a room with a view. The same price as booking.com but booking.com offered a discount. Disappointing room as no view at all. Obscure glass in the windows.
Have stayed at The Gleneagles before. Beautiful setting. Staff lovely. Clean room.

United KingdomExtortionate prices. Watch out that Service charges are automatically added to your bill for every single interaction within the complex, from restaurant charges, to paying for a tennis court, to buying sweets! It cranks your bill up enormously.

KuwaitNo one informed us that the activities are supposed to be booked before arrival. They said usually they would a letter to explain activities and amenities in the premises. Unfortunately, we had nothing and the activities were 90% booked so the travel was so exciting, & we felt rather irritated from the situation and disappointed
The view and the restaurants and bars

United KingdomThe shower in our room (admittedly one of the cheaper rooms) was awful and wasn't usable without getting in and out with cold water. However, I did mention this on checking out and the very nice gentleman did say they would check it out as the shower handle was very stiff. Worth checking in advance though if you don't like the large high up fixed head showers.
Fabulous breakfast, great choice of places to eat although having to book in advance was a bit of a pain at times and didn't always work well. Slightly disappointed in the afternoon tea - I was told I couldn't have Prosecco and was pressured to having the expensive champagne instead, which I didn't on principle. I was able to order white wine though so don't get the difference.

United Statesguest services are a poor substitute for a knowledgeable concierge staff which does not exist. obtaining suggestions for day trips is practically nonexistent as i had to personally research sightseeing places of interest within a close radius of the hotel. while there is a well organized kid's club daily from 9:30 am to 3:15 pm , the daily price is excessive. one off programs for young kids such as golf lessons and dog training carry steep prices. even though we stayed a week it was difficult getting dinner reservations every evening at an appropriate time for a family with a young daughter.
the food quality overall is excellent. the rooms are well maintained and clean and the staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. the grounds of gleneagles are beautiful.
