Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI'd think twice about staying here again on such a popular and busy weekend. The Fez Heads were playing in the bar and sounded great from our room. We expected it to be noisy but given it was so hot we slept with the window open and I could hear the clean up operation going on for a long time after the pub had closed which made it difficult to sleep. That said, I didn't recognise the place in the morning the staff had done such a great job.
We went to the Sandwich Folk & Ale Festival and wanted to stay local. The Fleur de Lis was perfect as it's right in the middle of town. We had never been there before but had heard good things.

United KingdomOnly criticism would be there was an issue with the door lock which made it difficult to get in and the bathroom shower had quite a bit of black mould.
Lovely staff who could not do enough to help and room was very comforatable. Breakfast was great too and check out was very easy. No issue at all with noise level from the bar.

United KingdomBringing my Granddaughter as I would have enjoyed an evening watching the band (just joking the place is family friendly)
Great value, friendly staff, and what other place have you ever stayed where the floorboards are vibrating and as a 60 year old spend the evening jumping around the room like a teenager, demonstrating all your air guitar skills to your 9 year-old granddaughter. Band shut off at 11. We then had a sound night in a comfy bed. Didn't spend the whole evening in and went to see the new Disney Little Mermaid in a little local cinema. That was a bargain costing £20 including drinks and popcorn (saving £30 on Cineworld prices). Breakfast was lovely, I had a delicious Full-English.

United KingdomShower in room 1 had a very stiff control leaver, which I had to ask the staff about as I was afraid I would break it if I applied anymore force in order to get the water flowing. Also it took ages (around 10 mins) to get any hot water to come through the shower. The height of the public male toilet ceiling was problematic. At 6'3" I could not stand up straight when using them.
Breakfast (full english) was good, but some additional cereal or toast would have been nice, plus we had to ask for fruit juice. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

United KingdomBathroom was a bit spartan and shower was reasonably warm but not hot. Bit stiff shower control in room no.1 so we had to get help, I was worried I would break it if I forced the control more. I should have used more force....
Breakfast was very good and the waitress was very courteous and helpful Nice room, crisp and clean sheets. Location was very central for train and eating out. No problem for me bringing my dog to stay. We were walking the Saxon Shore Way. We were welcomed by the manageress when we arrived and shown the room fine.

United KingdomThere wasnt anything we didnt like but it would be a good idea to add a copy of the restaurants menu to the rooms info pack,
Great location being in the middle of the town & close to long stay carpark. Lovely room, very nicely decorated, felt very relaxing, comfortable bed, beautiful white beding, good selection of complementry snacks, bottled water, plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc & toiletries. Served a really good breakfast, good choice. We enjoyed a very good evening meal in the restaurant, loved the fairy lights on the ceiling. All the staff were very nice & friendly.
