Quintessentially English village inn overlooking a picturesque cricket green. Food was excellent and staff were very friendly and welcoming.

If we had been told there was a wedding on the day/night we stayed we wouldn't have booked. Lovely place and would have been peaceful. Met with a very frazzled member of staff on arrival and room not ready even though we had been phoned the day before asking when we were arriving.(after 3 pm). Lovely place in a lovely village Excellent landlord.

We weren’t informed that there was a wedding on the night of our stay which took over most of the pub and the dance floor was outside our bedroom window. Luckily most of our group were out later than the wedding disco ended which did stop at 11pm.

Pretty village location. Nice clean room. Good food in the restaurant and very friendly staff. Big comfy bed. Plenty of parking. Good value for the price. Sits on a lovely village green with cricket pitch opposite. The wedding disco, though loud, stopped promptly at 11pm. Nice cooked breakfast.

Nothing much to complain about about. The only mistake they made was to excel at dinner and then raise my expectations beyond reasonable for breakfast, which was very good and adequate for a pub.

Very nice facility and the choices on the menu were excellent. The have really nice options if you’re looking for something healthy and the kitchen is super attentive and patient with someone who has food allergies.

My only minor complaint was the room was very light during the night from the lights outside.

Stayed for one night to attend a wedding locally. The room was lovely, very spacious and spotlessly clean. Tea, coffee and bottled water were provided. Breakfast was great, a selection of cereals and toast to help yourself to and a menu to order hot food from - all good to perfection. Would definitely recommend.

Room decor was a bit tired and overall it was quite dark (one lamp had bulb missing) Tea/coffee tray was grubby and cups not clean Bathroom layout a little weird - there was a step up immediately before toilet and shower cubicle

A hook or towel rail near the sink and a shelf in the shower would be helpful. Otherwise all good.

Perfect stop before an early morning flight out of Stansted. After a long drive from Oxford, we enjoyed a drink outside looking across the cricket fields, followed by a beautiful dinner (well worth the drive). The staff were friendly and happy to chat.

The room could do with some net curtains or similar as it looks out onto the outdoor tables, so there is no privacy with the curtains open.

Lovely traditional village pub looking over the cricket pitch, friendly bar and great food in the restaurant. Room was nicely appointed and comfortable. Easy, secure parking behind the hotel.

When we arrived...found a few ants on the table in room where tea/ coffee were and one wandering on the bed...reported this next morning). Along with a pair of used plastic gloves,air freshener spray lying on the bed and a jumper with plastic wrapping on the chair!!? Took to the bar but no one around so left in office at end of the bar. Could do with blackout curtain or blind as our room overlooked courtyard/ beer garden and a large white light was on all night which disturbed our sleep😕

Really all good arriving in the dark made it difficult to spot.

The bathroom was tiny and very tired, the shower was just a dribble, but we didn't complain because we were only stayed one night for a wedding. The breakfast was lovely but we would have preferred a pot of coffee or tea. The coffee bags didn't work for me. There was no marmalade, only cheap bread for toast. My husband ordered salmon & eggs on toast but there was no avocado as shown on the menu. We enjoyed it, but you did ask 😊

The location was lovely the staff were great, very polite and friendly the room and the decor was beautiful.
