Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo downstairs loo - could be a problem for some and the stair steps are higher than normal. We managed fine.
Everything needed was provided for people arriving without shopping - a nice welcome.

ItalyThere is very little to dislike. My Mother who is 89 found the steep stairs a little difficult, but this is not a negative about the property.
Well appointed and well equipped. Very comfortable stay.

United KingdomIt had really creaky floors which is to be expected in a property this age and there's nothing to be done about it, but it meant once one person was up, everyone was up
Lovely little cottage, well equipped, but most importantly it was really comfortable. Comfy beds, comfy sofa, comfy chairs. Somewhere we could really relax. We didn't meet Phil, but he communicated well throughout and was very helpful. The breakfast supplies in the fridge were a lovely touch. Don't miss the white hart in the village. Fabulous food

United KingdomFabulous, cosy cottage situated within the grounds of Grotton Hall, adjacent to a dairy farm. Open fire to the lounge/diner with comfortable seating and a dinner table for four. Patio doors overlooking extensive views. Kitchen has everything needed for self-catering, including a lovely welcome pack. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept like logs. Ian and Sylvia are the most welcoming and helpful of hosts and very knowledgeable upon the area. It was a pleasure to meet them. A five minute walk to the wonderful White Hart Inn for a quick pint or sumptuous meal with a very warm welcome. The cottage is perfect for exploring the Saddleworth moors and all the villages and eateries they have to offer. Saddleworth Golf Club and Dovestone sailing club are a 5 to 10 minute drive away also. I would definitely recommend the cottage and we have already booked our next trip!

United KingdomNo complaints. I would recommend having a small brush and shovel for the hearth as this would have made cleaning it easier.
Having be brought up in the area in the 1950's-1980's I knew where the hall was. However I only remembered it behind large Gates. The present owners have improved it and it is delightful. The cottage its self is small but has every thing you need. Plenty of hot water, towels, kitchen equipment, dish washer large (ish) bathroom. My brothers visited while we were there and they were also impressed by the Hall itself and the grounds. A lovely touch was that they had provided local milk, bread, butter and fresh orange juice in the fridge. I was even able to have a log fire in the evening. The owner even helped me with my laptop. Overall a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

SpainThe stairs are very steep which may pose problems for some people. Also access to the main bedroom is via the bathroom. Not a problem for us a couple but could be if staying with friends
Excellent location and free, secure and easy parking. Convenient for motorway links and public transport. The property is in a fabulous location. This was our second stay and we have already booked our third. The property is a lovely blend of modern and old which we love. Phil, our host was great to communicate with which is always good. The shower is great too. We were left some lovely, welcome breakfast goodies which was a nice touch. However, the biggest plus for me was the addition of an electric blanket!

Fantastic little cottage. We had a wonderful two night stay. Lovely to arrive and find a bread, milk, butter, jam and juice for us. Lovely touch. Cottage is super cosy and warm. Really comfortable with everything you need. I was slightly obsessed with the huge and powerful shower! Welcome folder with info. Owner came to say hello and check if we needed anything. They live on the grounds but totally unobtrusive. Easy 5 minute walk down to local pub for drinks and dinner. Co op supermarket within 5 minutes drive. We visited Uppermill for a lovely autumn walk. A real little gem. Would definitely go back.
