Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Beautifully furnished property that has been sympathetically restored to retain its period features.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like.
Beautiful decor and furnishings, with everything well thought out. Our room was luxurious and the bed so comfortable. We loved the jar of homemade cookies! Staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was wonderfully tasty. The location is right in the heart of the town, close to the castle. Ideal for exploring on foot. Really couldn’t fault anything.

The breakfast was superb, very delicious and lots of great choices. All the staff were really friendly, welcoming and attentive. The building has been beautifully renovated and we loved all the blue furnishings and accessories. The evening meal was also delicious and everything was beautifully presented. I was upgraded to the Chapel Room so called as it used to serve as such to the previous owners of the property The Sisters of Mercy . What can I say … a one of a kind room . The Cookie Jar possesses that understated surety of class which is self contained but evident throughout the fabric of the building and the professionalism of the staff .

United States of AmericaI dare anyone to find anything wrong with this property! That would be like someone not loving Betty White. Or puppies. It’s not possible.
Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways. The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious. At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience. Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.

United KingdomI was very hot in bed at night in spite of the radiator having been turned off. I remember reading somewhere that Simba mattresses were used in the bedroom. Perhaps this type of mattress retains heat or maybe it was just me having one of my hot spells.

United KingdomAlthough the food was quite good in the Bistro, the evening menu was a little limited for choice. The breakfast choice served in the Bistro was good. However, not the greatest full breakfast, considering the price (probably a, 7, or maybe 8 out of 10)
The location, the service, the facilities, the room were all excellent, fantastic even. The bed was very comfortable and the bath & shower really, really good. Some nice touches with the history and some of the little extras (cookies, shampoo etc..)
