Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCentral location comes with the downside of noise in the middle of the night from returning party goers. However, each plugs were provided.
Amazingly central location with free parking on the drive of the property.

United StatesThe owner's family lives on site and the building is a bit noisy in the morning and evening. Staff is also not readily available during reasonable hours like at most hotels.
The location can't be beat and with available limited on-site parking, the Coach House represents good value in Canterbury. We had 2 rooms. Our primary room was ground floor with a large, comfortable bed and good sized bath and shower. My father had a smaller room with tiny bath and less comfortable bed. The owners have done their best with the available space and it mostly works.

United KingdomThere was no DVD player as described. Not a big deal but I've planned to watch the particular movie together with the kids. Also, it's worth inquiring about the parking space before arrival if you want to save money on public car park.
We had an excellent stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The facilities were convenient an stuff very helpful. The location is brilliant, we loved to walk around the town center and there are various places to eat very close.

United KingdomIf I had to find something it would be the carpet in the bathroom and ensuite would have been nice but it was clean and not an issue for us, I felt it was reflected in the price we paid and it didn't retract from the pleasurable stay. If I had done my research and realised in advance the bathroom situation I still would have booked The Coach House anyway.
We were very happy with the room. We would book the coach house again. I didn't give a rating for the staff only because we didn't interact with any staff. The bathroom was not on suite, but was right next to our room so it wasn't an issue and we didn't have to share it with anyone else. I think the Coach House was great value for money. The rooms have character and the bed was very comfortable. Location was perfect, just a short walk to the town centre.

United KingdomI wish there was a bath but maybe we needed to request a room with one if we wanted it that much. To be honest I have nothing bad to say.
The location was incredible, right in the centre of town with shops, restaurants and Tesco round the corner. There was parking right in front of the building. The style of house and rooms had character and historical charm. The manager, Ben, was attentive, responsive to questions and an excellent cook of bacon in the morning. The space was really clean and functional.

United KingdomPretty sure it was advertised as having a private bathroom because I don't like sharing so wouldn't have booked it otherwise. Didn't have a private bathroom in the actual meaning of the term, where the bathroom is contained in the room. It was in the hallway open for everyone to use, but I was assured that nobody would be using it and it was ours solely. I thought that breakfast would be included because I paid £125 for ONE night for 4 people but it wasn't. It's actually £8pp. Staff were quite abrupt and slightly rude, only saw him twice- once at check in at 3 and once at checkout where I had to knock on the possibly locked door to get his attention, and no staff available after dark. Which was an issue because we couldn't figure out the shower and had to call the phone number. Stairs are steep and narrow and are the 'going around in a spiral' design on the corners. It's an old building so there's not much they can do. TV is actually quite crappy and worse than not having a proper private bathroom - I know! It's Freeview, so very little signal on the few channels it has, and the fact that it's right in the middle of the room makes watching it almost impossible on the tiny screen in a big room. My son could still see it from his bed despite us angling the TV mount towards our bed which was opposite my children's beds. Thankfully we weren't in the room that much. But I'd just like to warn anyone that there's literally one plug socket in the whole room and the kettle uses it so if you've got devices to charge you'll need to bring a plug extension with at least 4 sockets. Bed felt like it was sloping downwards, mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Even my children said their beds were uncomfortable. Overall I'd only book this place again if it was literally the very last option and I didn't have a choice.
Decor is clean and well maintained, towels and body wash available and location is excellent. Pillows were very soft and lovely to sleep on- shame about the bed.

United KingdomFolks who find it difficult to navigate narrow stair cases might have trouble getting up and down to their rooms.
We had a lovely day in Canterbury, and Coach House was the perfect base for us to explore town. The location right near the centre of town, yet with a parking space in front of the B&B makes this a very convenient base. The room is large, with a separate bathroom in the hallway.

United KingdomNo complaints. The decor is dated but that didn't bother us and everything was clean. If it were to be revamped the rooms would be much more expensive.
Fantastic location, with parking. Nice big room, with everything we needed and a huge bathroom. (Though there were only two of us I had booked the family room as that was the only one left). Ben was happy for us to check in a little early as we were meeting friends in the city centre at 2, and was happy for us to leave our car parked there until lunch time the next day while we met another friend for brunch, as other guests weren't expected until 2.
