Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe breakfast service has been appalling on both times we’ve been here- they’re either grumpy, slow or incompetent- we all have bad days- but we visit on the first morning get our experience confirmed and then go elsewhere. Not a deal breaker for us, nor should it be for anyone else.
The rooms are great, the hotel staff are really helpful. The bar service is good and friendly (same company as breakfast, which is a contrast) We will return when we next visit Edinburgh.

The location was perfect. The staff was wonderful, the room clean and spacious. We loved having a washer and dryer in the room. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel that provided breakfast was excellent.

The only thing that I would comment on was the fact that a £60.00 deposit was taken on my CC on check-in, which came as a surprise as I wasn't advised of this at booking. I was informed by the receptionist that it can take up to 14 days to return the deposit after check-out, which seems like a long delay. Not a big issue, but why not just be upfront about it when the booking is confirmed so that you can plan for this?
It is located right in the heart of old town Edinburgh, within easy walking distance of the train station, tram to the airport, and the new town. I was expecting to be kept awake at night by the noise, but I didn't hear a thing. The apartment has everything you need for a short stay, and it was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The small carton of milk and bottles of water in the fridge were a nice touch. Very clean, felt very safe with the security code entry.

CyprusThe wooden floors were really squeaky, but I guess this is something to expect in an old building like that. Our room was in their second building and there were a couple of stairs, which was not very convenient with big suitcases. The staff however helped us carry them to our room.
We loved absolutely everything about our stay. The room turned out to be even better than in the pictures. The location is ideal, right on the Royal Mile. Easy to get anywhere. The room was clean, beds were very comfy, all the necessities were provided. Great breakfast starting from 7 am. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
