Hotel quite dated throughout and needs a refurb and blast of air freshener.

Breakfast was excellent. Service a bit slow as they seemed to be over worked and a bit understaffed.

If I had to find a negative, the room could have had a deeper clean. The edges of the carpet were quite dusty (ground in), and the cobweb above the TV was impressive! If we had been staying longer than one night, I would have mentioned it to staff. However, the "important" areas were very clean (all bedding, toilet, sink, towels), so it wasn't a huge deal.

Hotel was as expected for a seaside town and one that caters for coach tours. Lady on front desk was very welcoming and efficient. There was plenty of parking. We didn't use the bar, but the prices seemed very reasonable. We didn't watch the entertainment, but it sounded like everyone was enjoying the show! Easy walk into town for an evening meal. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly portioned for us. Would stay again if we come back to Torquay, and recommend to others as a budget place to stay.

The noise from music was fairly constant until about 10:30 pm at night. Breakfast was uncomfortable if you came alone instead of on a coach. Solo travelers were left to sit for a long while waiting due to short-staffing, and could be shuffled to different tables if they sat at the "wrong" (unmarked) tables reserved for coaches. Cleaning staff did not knock, simply walking into my room (once).

The room was comfortable and well appointed with coffee and tea makings.

The breakfast is a bit off a chaos, you have no idea we’re to sit? Then I sat on a little table I thought was for single travellers only for it to be a couple from a coach party. Who didn’t seem too impressed. Think they need to ask people when dining if they’re with the party or not. As the girl serving took ages to help some tables, so I felt a bit quilty.

It was good value and the staff seemed friendly

It is a little old and run down now, but is perfectly usable and comfortable. I rather liked it as it's not a chain and has some character.

Everything worked and was comfortable and clean. Breakfast OK - not haute cuisine, but fresh and substantial, served with grace by the young wait staff. Regular 22 bus just along the road for getting in and out of town, although the downhill walk to town also very pleasant - about 10 minutes. Plenty of shops, cafes etc within 10 minutes walk, both downhill and uphill (try the Ilsham cafe uphill -fabulous). Comfy bed, functional shower. Fantastic value for money.

Everything worked, bed and room were comfy, 22 bus right outside to and from town (or 10 minute walk down to the harbour). Cheap. Nearby shops, cafes and restaurants all within 10 minute walk. Breakfast was hot and fresh. The rooms and hotel itself are know quite old but perfectly functional. Staff were all competent and friendly.

    nothing really for the price,

all was as i expected from a 2 star hotel , comfortable bed , hot water, and good breakfast, obviously in need of refurbishment thats why its 2 star, 22 bus runs outside up and down the hill handy for us bus passers ,about a 12 min walk to the harbour if not, yes i was happy enough and would return ,

Not much I didn't like. I like the traditional feel of the hotel however it is a little tired in places and could do with some TLC. But that costs money and things are tight but it was very good value for money.

My room was clean and functional and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was lovely and hot. The staff were excellent. Friendly and welcoming. There was a car park at the back which was useful. Breakfast was all waiter service and ideal for me as I was able to order exactly what I wanted. There was a bar and lounge and separate pool table room. There was also an entertainment area where acts would play in the height of the season. I was walking the South West Coast path and found the location and busses worked well for me. It was excellent value for money and I'd stay again.

A half an hour breakfast (especially at 8:30 which is quite early for a weekend) is a little silly. I missed breakfast both days despite being down before 9AM.

Very cheap, bed was clean, room was clean, location was ok (up a hill but not too bad)
