Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdomthe mattress and pillows were softer than our liking but this is a preference rather than a criticism. Not having an en-suite bathroom was only disappointment a thing we take for granted nowadays and the first time this century we have not had this facility.
Breakfast excellent, Staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was clean and tidy, The location was perfect and the views fantastic.

United KingdomThere is little not to like and so long as the staff continue to provide the level of service they currently achieve, the Bourgoyne will still be the best hotel in a fifty mile radius. A problem with the fire alarm control panel will have already been sorted
This is a well run country house hotel in a marvelous location. It achieves its reputation through the comfort of its rooms, the high standard of its cuisine and the welcome provided by its staff.

United KingdomCar park was a bit small for only 10 cars but the hotel has 12 rooms. On one occasion we had to park on the green. TV was small and basic as other rooms had bigger TV but is no deal breaker.
Excellent staff, excellent breakfast and dinner. You won't be disappointed. We stayed in the Muker room which was very spacious which had a fantastic view of the village and Swaledale. Worth it for the view alone!

United KingdomOur room was quite small for the price we paid and although comfortable, it was extremely hot as there were heating pipes which were on. We opened both windows fully but it was still uncomfortable. We booked through Booking.com and paid a lot. Having subsequently looked on the Burgoyne website, the room was a lot cheaper. At the price we paid, I didn’t think it was very good value for money.
The location was fabulous with great views from our bedroom. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious and original.

United KingdomSocial distancing in the dining room could have been better, tables too close in the right hand corner. When ordering our evening meal we felt “short changed” with the scallop starter, ONE is never enough !!?
The location was perfect for a relaxing break with panoramic views from our room window. We arrived early and the room was still being serviced however the member of staff checking us in was so hospitable ensuring that we were made comfortable and refreshed with coffee? Lovely lady. Late check out I.e. 11a.m

United KingdomThe food was overpriced. The wine was way overpriced. Attention to detail in tidiness was lacking. They have a nice lounge with sofas in it. We sat there for a while and it was clear that before we had been in there someone else had also been in there because they had left a biscuit on a plate. We left and came back a while later. The biscuit was still there. Also there's a shaving mirror / make up mirror in the bathroom but the inbuilt light in it didn't work. And we asked a member of staff if they had an ironing board we could use. We were told they would check and call us. We never heard from them again.
Location was excellent. Food was good. Staff were friendly.

United KingdomOur bathroom was on the other side of the corridor but we knew that when we booked so that was fine. We had no success in getting the television to work in order to watch the Euro 2020 football. I suppose the only issue was that, whilst the staff were very pleasant, there was a tendency to say “no problem” to pretty much everything. I suppose it was quite endearing!
Its character and location in the village. There are some great walks and beautiful scenery around Reeth and the hotel is ideally suited for these. We both agreed that we would love to return to return.
