Having discovered the Brantwood we are regular returners , this charming traditional small country house hotel in a peaceful village setting maintains consistently high standards offering excellent hospitality from the owner and his friendly helpful team of staff is a true gem. Excellent food available in the restaurant and if staying over the weekend the exceptional Sunday lunch is a must . Cosy welcoming bar area in which to enjoy a relaxing drink . Outside garden seating area and on site parking

the television was very small, not a major issue but would have been nice to have a larger newer model. the bathroom toilet has a water issue, it kept filling meaning I could hear it when sleeping. im a light sleeper so probably wouldn't affect many people. small issue. not a complaint

The paintwork was a little chipped, especially on the door to the room. This door was a bit lightweight which meant the noise of people moving on the (creaky) stair was quite noticeable. A higher quality door would improve both these issues.

Check-in was prompt and friendly and our room was spacious and cosy. The breakfast was tasty and the waitress was efficient and friendly. The hotel is only a few minutes from the motorway and in a nice quiet village which was lovely for a relaxing walk before dinner. Tip: The fuel at the filling station just off the roundabout on the way to the village is 25p per litre cheaper than the motorway service stations, and it has a wonderful deli!

There was low water pressure which meant the shower didn't work well. The bedroom we had looked over a roof and had no view and the window blind was badly fixed and didn't work. These were minor niggles as we were very happy in general. Some of the rooms had lovely views over the gardens.

The room was on the small side but the bed was big and very comfortable. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with dinner. It was well cooked 'proper' food, lots of fresh veg and my husband said the beef pie was the best he has had in a restaurant. A nice change from the usual cheap chips and factory produced re-heated from frozen rubbish one often gets served with these days. Breakfast was also excellent.

Very convenient stopover from M6, and also for Northern Lakes, very cosy bar and comfortable seats, good evening meal, Timothy Taylor on tap, room very pleasant, last minute good value booking

Great stop off not far from the motorway.. welcoming staff with a lovely cosy bar. Rooms were warm with all you need for a comfortable stay. Dinner in the dining room was excellent with lots of choices.
