Unfortunately the electric shower in our room was not very good. There was very low water pressure and the temperature fluctuated from cold to scalding.

We used this for a one night stopover on our way home from a holiday in Scotland. The dinner in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good.

That we were only able to stay one night!

Really relaxed, very homely and cosy. Dinner was delicious and a great selection and breakfast was super tasty. Nice selection of wine and spirits. Room was really clean and comfortable and loved the heated bathroom floor!

Only issue we had was WiFi was intermittent

Small but clean and calmly decorated bedroom. Very comfortable bed and modern en suite shower room. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent pub and restaurant food

Superb value - I paid £60 for a huge comfy kingsize bed with ensuite. Lots of pillows and fresh towels. And a nice cooked breakfast. Bargain. No complaints.

We were there for just a short one night stopover and found the hotel very convenient for a trip to the lake for a few hours, and the breakfast was a real treat.

Our bed was a bit uncomfortable. But I've got sciatica which did not help at all 👎🏼

Beautiful hotel and room. Staff could not do enough for us and breakfast superb. Waitress served everything at the table. She was so nice, helpful and chatty. Lovely girl! No helping yourself to cereals etc which I think is fantastic too. Plenty to eat and breakfast was delicious! Great produce, 10/10

We were very pleased on the whole with our smart bedroom.The staff at the hotel were friendly,helpful,accommodating and professional.The breakfast and evening meals were very enjoyable.The food was good and tasty and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The hotel is in a very endearing village in countryside and very close by,about 2/3 miles away,is Ullswater a lovely lake.We loved the boat trip we went on .A lovely few days break!

Although we arrived late and well after the restaurant had taken final orders (an hour after), the owner very kindly produced the menu, allowed me to choose from several options and then provided a hot meal. That was exceedingly kind and most welcome - above and beyond what we would normally expect. Our room was warm, the bed was very comfortable, the shower hot and everything worked just fine. Breakfast was decent with enough choice, although overall I think a little more might be done for vegetarians/vegans, but I got by fine as a non-meat eater. Overall, a great find, close to the M6 yet with a rural feel being in a village and really lovely people running it and working in it.

I arrived later than expected. Kitchen was closed but without hesitation offered to cook me a meal and staff at breakfast couldn't do enough. I look forward to being back

Fantastic gem of a pub/ bnb, true hospitality in a lovely period setting, comfy rooms, tasty food.. friendly locals- whats not to like. Also for motorway hobos like me, its a stones throw from a turnoff, with petrol at very reasonable prices!

The room was comfortable if a little on the small side. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay, I would certainly choose this place again if I was staying in the area.

Nothing , i have no complaints at all , everything was as good as it was advertised , I couldn't give a negative review as then id be lying and that wouldn't help other travellers , but others may see it differently ,

Our stay here was excellent staff were friendly welcoming , the hotel was clean and had authentic old style country pub theme quaint and cozy , we had food in the restaurant in the evening ,the menu catered for all , the food was excellent and great value , our room was clean tidy comfortable , we had breakfast also very tasty traditional english breakfast , i'd definitely recommend staying here and i will stay again if we are in the area
