Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stairs up to the apartment were a little hard with a suitcase in tow but we managed to negotiate them ok.
Very tastefully decorated and cosy. Well equipped and maintained. A lovely place to relax after a day of sightseeing. I loved the bath with the TV, very relaxing.

United StatesNot a dislike but to provide awareness. The apartment is accessed only by stairwell. It is on the third floor and so be aware that you will need to haul your luggage up. A good reminder to travel light. Others have mentioned that they were bothered by the look of the entry and stairwell. I noted the secure doors and that it was well lit; spotlessly clean. To me the plain cement flooring was the most practical due to the frequent messy weather.
Super clean and well maintained. Staff was so polite and friendly. I was impressed at how well prepared they were to meet renter needs. Easy to contact and provided quick replies. I was absentminded and contacted them several times times about how something worked when I only needed to look in their well laid out renters guide located in the living room.

United StatesOnly complaint is there were only three rolls of toilet paper for a full week. We had to go buy more. Also, the neighbor was rocking out from 2:00 AM till 4:00 AM a couple of nights. Nothing you can do about that though.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing regarding the apartment or host but paid more than what was advertised by booking.com as apparently needed a voucher to get the discounted price which wasn't clear until after I'd paid. My mistake for booking quickly and not checking. To be honest it was worth the undiscounted price, it was the booking.com process I am more annoyed with.
Two minute walk from Waverley Station, the information provided by host is excellent. I panicked when faced with several key boxes on arrival but re-read instructions on the host's email and it was easy to identify which key box it was. The stairs.... well there are lots of them (3 flights of spiral staircase) if you can climb a flight of stairs you will be fine here. The stairs are concrete, not carpeted, this is fine and practical for both cleaning and safety. If I had stayed here alone I would feel really safe staying here, the location is on a main street and there is a double door to get into the apartment once you go up the stairs. We went out to buy milk (plenty of shops close by) then found some had been left in the fridge, along with some eggs, butter, tea, coffee, biscuits and breakfast oats. Perfect for late arrivals who don't have time to get to a shop. This apartment really is as good as it look on the photographs and the view from the lounge I could have spent all day looking out. Absolutely loved it here!

United KingdomWe didn't dislike a single thing. The door to the street (which, I'd like to point out, is not the responsibility of the accommodation owner!) took a bit of getting used to as far as the key is concerned. Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, access to the accommodation is up three flights of (spiral) stairs - not a problem for us but needs to be kept in mind if you have mobility concerns.
What's not to like about this property? The location is fantastic, the owner's attention to detail (and courtesy when responding) is amazing and the facilities are all anyone needs for a short (or long!) break in one of the best parts of town. We can vouch for the overwhelmingly positive reviews, which the property fully deserves. We'd love to come back again. It was clean, more than well equipped with all you could need and the provision of some basic breakfast items and a welcome drink was a lovely touch. Thank you!

United KingdomThere's nothing we really disliked. Please be aware the stairs to the room would make this property inaccessible for the disabled but did not impact on our stay whatsoever.
This was a fantastic apartment and the attention to detail is phenomenal. From the Wedgwood champagne flutes, coffee cups and saucers to the stained glass window of the view outside. The spa bath with surround sound waterproof TV is fantastic and a great way to relax.

United KingdomThere wasn't anything not to like about the place. If I was being really fussy I'd say a lift would be handy, but the stairs are not a problem unless you are disabled, we aren't so I'm just mentioning that in case you are. All buildings in Edinburgh are tall so this would apply everywhere in the city...
For perspective on this review I'll start by saying we have been in 50+ places and have only stayed in one better apartment than this, that was Breitner House in Amsterdam and cost £500 per night (get that on your bucket list). The apartment is perfect for a couple touring Edinburgh; top marks for location, facilities, décor, cleanliness and comfort level. We had a 3 night visit and kept noticing little pieces of attention to detail, a lot of care has been taken to ensure you enjoy the apartment, which we appreciated. Lindsey (the host) was always helpful and gave great restaurant recommendations. If you want to dine or have cocktails in the most popular venues in Edinburgh, make sure you book well in advance - months for places like the Dome. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this fabulous apartment.

United KingdomThe apartment is fabulously decorated and very cosy and the nights get darker earlier and the cold weather sinks in. The coffee shop downstairs was great and a big shopping mall with food across the street made for some easy options at the end of a long day. The TV in the bathroom felt like ultra luxury! All the little comforts made it feel extra special, a few items in the fridge for breakfast, drinks, chocolates, etc. A very nice touch for a beautiful stay!
