Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTheir breakfasts are not very good. Their bread seems stale. For the second time I have had breakfast there, I had a sourdough with egg and avocado dish which I though would have had hot or at least warm sourdough bread underneath the poached egg, but it was stone cold and that was the second time I had tried this dish and it was exactly the same. The sourdough was brick hard. The avocado fortunately was lovely though.! The coffee was the worst though on both occasions. I am all for leaving a cafetière of coffee time to brew before plunging it but this was ridiculous. It was as weak as water - and for the second time. The first time - the staff plunged it as soon as he brought it out and my husband and I just looked at each other. We tasted it and it was so awful we complained and asked for coffee at least double the strength and not to plunge it. It was just as bad although we waited about 10 minutes before plunging. - On the second and most recent time we stayed today we did not bother to complain…no point. Other breakfast aspects were not brilliant also.
We have stayed here before but this time payed a little extra for one of their loft rooms which are lovely. The bed is very comfortable. The shower quite good. There was a coffee machine which was appreciated and cloudy lemonade and cookies were left in the evening which was a lovely touch.

United KingdomLovely small hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, fabulous decor with a homely feel and the evening meal in the Stables restaurant was fantastic, the trout starter was a work of art on the plate and so delicious. The homemade biscuits and lemonade received at bedtime was a very pleasant touch as well as the water and biscuits on departure. Very comfy bed, wallpaper fab, shower room was small, really liked the information card of area.

United KingdomWe were made very welcome at The Bonnie Badger by all the staff who were very friendly. The room was beautifully clean - gorgeous bath! We travelled with our dog and she was also made very welcome - a bed and bowl were provided. We were absolutely delighted that Maisie was also welcome in the Stable Restaurant as we had thought we may only be able to eat in the Bar area. The food was exquisite for both of our evening meals - the breakfast was high quality. It was lovely to have the jars with the fresh fruit and the special apple, yoghurt and home-made granola - this all made such a welcome change to the usual breakfast buffet approach of other hotels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - whilst it was busy, we still felt it was peaceful and private. Thank you to everyone at the Bonnie Badger.

United KingdomThe parking is at the back of the hotel and is not for sole use of the hotel. We didn’t have any problems but it may be an issue at busy times of year.
The hotel is small and friendly. The room and bathroom are not huge but more than acceptable. We ate in the hotel both nights once in the Stables and the other in the bar and the food was very good, The breakfast was amazing

United KingdomWe did not dislike anything about the hotel. Extensive wine list with prices to match but to be expected in this quality of hotel. Don't be put off. Enjoy.
Excellent breakfast. Probably one of the best breakfasts in any hotel that we've been fortunate to stay in.

United KingdomUnfortunately underfloor heating wasn’t working in shower room so it was very cold. Staff arranged for t to be fixed when we mentioned it to them. Draft lager selection not to our taste. Not everyone wants craft beers.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and plenty of choice. Great location and walking maps available. Nice thought to give goodie bag with water and flapjacks on leaving.

United KingdomBeautiful quiet location. A 5 minute walk to picturesque Gullane Bay. Staff were all extremely welcoming. We ate both in the restaurant and the bar and would thoroughly recommend both. Loved the little extra touches - sea buckthorn tea, cookies and lavender pillow spray at night, and the water and brownies for our journey home. Our first visit, we are already planning our return!

Lovely decor comfortable beds with good bedding. Lovely seating areas and restaurant. Good food. Good reception. Restaurant service good overall. We had booked the Broc Bar but it was taken by a pub quiz. I had rung the night before to say we specified the Broc Bar menu but the waiter was very offhand about giving us the menu. Excellent breakfast and service at breakfast.

United KingdomROOMS AREN'T HUGE BUT COMFORTABLE AND WELL THOUGHT THROUGH. THE FIRST ROOM WE WERE ASSIGNED HAD NO VIEW AND WAS TINY, IT DIDN'T REALLY BELONG IN THE CATEGORY WE PAID FOR HOWEVER THEY FOUND US A MORE SUITABLE ROOM IMMEDIATELY WHICH WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
THE ATTITUDE, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS. THE ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND THE LITTLE EXTRAS, NIGHT TIME DRINKS AND PILLOW SPRAY, HOMEMADE COOKIES AND WATERS FOR OUTINGS.... THE STAFF ARE AMAZING NOTHING IS A PROBLEM AND THEY GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO MAKE YOUR STAY MEMORABLE AND PLEASANT. FOOD WAS FABULOUS !

United KingdomOur room, in the cottage annex was not cosy and not cleaned around the window properly. The bathroom lacked space to put anything. We could not fill the sink. We just felt, considering the exterior, that the hotel lacked atmosphere due to its contemporary styling. Disappointing. Overall, expensive and would struggle to return.
The staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. A good breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Good shower. Nice restaurant ambiance. Good wines but expensive.
