Everything was splendid ~ no complaints!

Breakfast was excellent and the service superb. The staff is incredibly friendly and Steph was a huge help on arrival and she explained everything about the property and the area. She shared with us that there was a rooftop patio and (after dinner) I made myself a cup of tea and we sat up there for a bit enjoying the late day. The car park is a block or two away and is easy to use and pretty inexpensive by paying for a 24 hour period. We walked to the cathedral where we took a wonderful tour and then spent the rest of our time self-touring their special exhibit. Loved the library and the cache of old and original books ~ what a treasure. Highly recommend this property and would love to come back and visit their sister properties (pub, etc)

Unfortunately, I had to start early work so didn't get to try the cooked breakfast. However, there was plenty of other options available in the kitchen area. On-site parking not available but that's understandable in Winchester. Car park was a short walk away.

Very warm welcome. Great rooms and facilities. 24/7 access to kitchen area. Rooftop terrace is great addition and has nice views. Location is very convenient; short walk to town. The history of the building was fascinating.

A kettle and tea facilities in the room would have been lovely, our room was two flights up using a narrow winding staircase so carrying tea upstairs is not ideal, first thing in the morning I like to have a cup of tea without needing to get washed and dressed although I am sure the lovely staff would have welcomed the guests in any attire, Steff was lovely and very accommodating. We had the opportunity to eat a cold breakfast i.e. cereal, toast , yoghurts etc but had taken porridge as we were completing the SDW Trail run that morning.

The location, the room was lovely, the bed was comfy and the quilt and pillows lovely, the building is quirky, tea and coffee available at all times downstairs in the dining room.

There is nothing we didn’t like

Great location and within 10 minutes pleasant walk into the city centre past a number of landmarks and places of interest. The link with ‘The Black Boy’ pub is obvious and both are quirky and really friendly. Defo recommend. Breakfast was fab and the access to tea and coffee a nice touch all day Didn’t use the roof terrace but wish we had…

    Loved the prison theme

The hotel wasn't in the centre of town - it's maybe a 5 minute walk - but that has both pluses and minuses.

The prison theme is great. The rooms had convincing cell doors and the atmosphere was carried out further in the building. I joked that - in theory - we should have had cold showers as well and only gruel for breakfast to continue the prisoner effect, but fortunately that wasn't the case. The breakfast was fine; you order what you'd like for English breakfast and it's prepared fresh. What I would like to emphasise are the walks near the hotel. There's a great path alongside the river to Winchester centre and also a nice country walk near the public (private) school.

The trip to Winchester could not have been better. The B&B was spectacular. The whole team was so helpful. The proximity to town and the breakfast made this trip special. Emma runs such an impressive operation so helpful an asset to the B&B a special thanks goes to her..

There was a lack of any shelf space in the bedroom and the hanging rail only had 3 coat hangers on it.
