I had written to say we had heavy bags as we were travelling from Australia for 6 weeks. They told me there was no lift, I was ok with that as long as we could get help with the bags, which we did. But why they put us on the very top floor is still a mystery. I’d booked a long time before so it’s odd they didn’t give us a room on a lower level.

The location was fabulous, the room was clean and reasonably comfortable considering it was an old pub.

The pub is on a very busy road, so a bit noisy, if you like your windows open, as we do.

Location was great for the barbican. Staff were all very pleasant, great breakfast, would definitely stay again.

The room was small and at the very top of the building so got very hot. A fan was provided which helped but not ideal.

Like a lot of old pubs, the walls are thin so there is an amount of noise from both within the hotel and outside.

The parking situation is confusing. We arrived later than planned, and there was no on-street parking available - this is very limited. The nearest paid parking garages are a bit of a walk away. Definitely map the parking garages nearby to save driving in circles. Highly recommend dropping off the bags and passengers and then find parking.

The rooms were fine, a little warm for our preference, and unfortunately, the windows did not open. fortunately a fan was provided in the rooms. Rooms overlooked street and were fairly quiet. Breakfast was good and there was plenty to keep us going. The staff were welcoming and nice. Note: The registration desk is at the pub counter. easy walk into the main shopping area of Bath.

This was the most spacious place we have stayed in our 6 weeks of travelling. Lovely big, modern bathroom. Only a few minutes walk to the station.

Mostly everything was okay. Did not receive the warmest of welcomes at check-in , and barely a word was said to us at breakfast. In fact we had to get up to ask for things that were included in the breakfast, and received them in a very cold manner , without a word. Staff does not seem to want to be there. Being very central, it wasn't restful or peaceful, quite noisy, the room rattles a bit when a large vehicle passes...I just make a note of it in case someone is looking for a rest or some peace, this is not the place for you. Will not return but all in all it was ok.

It was okay for a couple of nights, we enjoyed the central location. Smallish room, small bathroom but clean.

A lovely old pub in the heart of Bath. Our room was comfortable and clean. Very close to other restaurants and attractions.

The only issue is that you need to be able to climb stairs to various levels.

Staff were friendly and efficient. Fantastic location. Very nice breakfast. Loved the bath and the streaming TV. Very clean and comfortable. We loved the bathroom toiletries. Bed extremely comfortable. Very close to train and bus-station. Close all major tourist attractions. Rooms are really well well insulated from each other. Very reasonable price considering the location of the hotel. Generally very happy with our choice.

The bathroom is a bit narrow, but still perfectly okay. Other than that, nothing else comes to mind.

Room was on fourth floor(given Brit’s habit of calling 1st ground, 2nd 1st, etc. The 55 steps became source of humor, as did the slanting floor. Lack of space in room precluded dorm fridge, thus the clotted cream I set outside on window sill overnight for cooling became gull food. All in all, we loved Bath and location of Black Fox was excellent. Someone described it as quirky. Being quirky myself (booked it partly due to age of building) we liked our stay. Comfortable ( had to remake bed so head was higher than feet[ note floor comment] ) nothing would keep us away given prevailing temperatures during our stay. Radiator easily adjustable, not sure if outside temps got warm.

Breakfast was good, location was excellent, bar was good and friendly.
