This is a first class Inn. The property is very well managed and the staff are very professional and friendly. We were a group of seven family members staying for one night. We ate in the Bistro and the food was excellent. Everyone had a fantastic meal and the service was very good. The rooms are cosy but it is not user friendly if you are not sure footed as there are several stairs and steps.

A soft option on the pillows would have been nice. I found the pillows completely none pliable :( Very hard. Second night the fire wasn't lit in the bar till gone 7pm and it was cold in there for dinner, nearly kept my coat on.

Excellent quality of room coffee/tea. Loved the fresh milk not those horrible substitutes. Loved having a bath plus a shower, bonus. The soft furnishings are amazing!!! bar area was great. Breakfast was amazing, well done chef and the morning waitresses were absolutely lovely. Nothing too much trouble. Loved the fire going into breakfast room.

Relaxed friendly service, quality of hotel which was packed with character. The food was superb, breakfast and evening meal. Open fire in one of the lounges very atmospheric. Loved the stay, will come back.

Not much!

This inn is perfectly located for an overnight stay off the A1. It is full of character. The staff were welcoming and dealt with our specific requests promptly and courteously. The breakfast was superb - probably one of the best we have had.

Nothing, we could find a single fault!

We stayed at the Bell Inn travelling from Europe to Scotland for Christmas. We booked based on previous visits. The hotel is very well situated for the A1, the room was lovely and the extra touches such as chocolates, bath robes, digital radio and nesspresso machine make the stay all the more pleasurable. We didn't have dinner here this visit as we met up with family but we know the food (and cheese) is great from previous visits. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and served with a smile by fabulous staff. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We will be back again no doubt.

Shower was low so had to stoop to wash hair, loath shower curtains. Slightly concerned about privacy as staff came in to our friends and cleaners were super early!

Quirky, friendly, nice tea, coffee and chocs in room. Bar and restaurant was nice too. Lots of space, pretty, robes and everything in room. There was a lovely room next to the restaurant where we could gather as a group and have a drink and chat. Beautiful open fire and traditional decorations.

The age & look. The rooms. Comfy beds and warm rooms without even having the heating on. Had a lovely warm welcome by a young lady when we arrived. She had a great smile & made you feel welcome.
