Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe booked 2 rooms for our family but they were in two different buildings. The receptionist ( one with long hair, light brown/kind of blonde)who was working in the pub was quite rude during the check in.
Stylish decoration, cosy room

Great location for our needs, and a beautiful room in the pub. Well stocked mini bar! Lovely touches in the room with biscuits, sherry and a large bottle of water. Great friendly and genuine service on check in/out. Will visit again!

United KingdomOur room was too small, no where to put our suitcase, one coat hanger, the iron was dirty which marked my husband's shirt, we were off to a family wedding.
The location was great 👍

United StatesThe room was perfectly located a few steps from the central square of Stow-on-the-Wold, which is a charming town in the Costwolds. The room was comfortable and quiet. The restaurant and pub are a short walk away. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries within a short walk from the lodging. The classic walk from Stow-on-the-Wold to Bourton-on-the-Water begins a short distance away. The local bus stops at the central square and has regular service for the short ride to Moreton-in-Marsh and the National Rail station. All in all, the hotel was a perfect location to base our train/bus/walking visit to the Costwolds.

United KingdomThe only problem was the wi fi. I had an important zoom meeting and it simply was not goode enough. I had to use my phone as a hotspot which will cost me a fortune..
The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The food at the pub was simple but excellent both for dinner and breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe duvet was very thick and warm for May but would definitely be great if it was winter. We were also in the far room (on the street end) and it was very noisy with passers by with it being on street level and the single glazing.
Decent storage for a small room and a good shower although the shower door was a little tricky to shut. Good quality bedding and great it had an iron and ironing board too. Lovely little touches like the home made shortbread and sloe gin made us feel very welcomed. There was also a great little mini bar and snacks in the room. I also liked the plastic free eco teabags!!

United KingdomWhile the room was nice, it was very small and the narrow, windy staircase made it difficult to get too, especially when carrying bags. There was quite a bit of noise from the street below. The size of the room was the main issue. Two people couldn’t occupy the same area, it was that tight. The bathroom was very nice, with a great shower, but there was no shelf to place toiletries - so items either had to be left in the bedroom or on a small surface down by the toilet.
Rooms nicely decorated and property conveniently located. Great breakfast (which was available between 8 and 10 at the weekend, from the Bell pub down the road).

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything we didn’t like as the staff were all friendly and accommodating. If you needed anything they were on hand to supply it. We couldn’t fault the place.
The location is beautiful and easy for getting to other destinations. We had two full days and covered four different places in that time. Breakfast was very good value for money with a great choice. The room was cosy and had everything required for a short stay. We had dinner as well which was good.

CanadaThe Squirrel room is very very small. Not suitable for 2 people. The check-in is a bit confusing too. The booking was for the Bell and Stuart House but we had to check in at another location called The Bell. No real problems once we figured that out. Lovely stay.
Really beautiful decor and great location. Beautiful bathroom and good bed. It is a charming place with safe parking and a quiet sleep.
