Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLeaving.
The Art Bank is mesmerising, eclectic and so welcoming. Every single part is decorated with such thought and good taste. The owner Mandy is an amazing woman who knows how to be a hostess. The staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and nothing has been scrimped on. We absolutely loved the place. Breakfast is the best we have ever had and it's a banquet of exquisite deliciousness. Then just when you think it can't get any better, you find out that your doggies are catered for to the same high standard as the humans. I can't recommend enough. Thank you so so much.

United KingdomWhile not a huge issue for me, anyone not keen on dogs might want to speak to Mandy first - The Art Bank is super dog-friendly. Parking is on-street outside - fine if you can get a convenient space.
Clean, warm, comfortable. Lovely old Victorian property, with interesting artistic updates everywhere. Mandy and her team friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast choices.

United KingdomOn the first night, our room was quite cold. We spoke to Mandy and it was soon resolved, she provided us with an electric heater that was more than powerful enough to keep us cosy the rest of our stay.
The B&B is centrally located in the high street, very convenient for the nearby King's Arms (excellent food) but also, no problem parking. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by Mandy, including our small dog - the pet pack was appreciated. Our room was on the first floor, very clean and a good size with satellite TV. The breakfast is really quite extraordinary, you will not want for variety or quantity. Alison is an excellent chef and if you have the cooked breakfast in it's entirety, you're unlikely to need to eat again that day 😀 Dalbeattie we really liked, it may not be the Royal Mile but it's a proper non-touristy little town which was what we wanted. There's a good variety of take-aways as well as a couple of pubs and a Co-op just a few yards away. You're well placed for exploring the area and it's a nice ride up to Ayr, for example. We hope the B&B does well, Mandy's life story and her commitment to animal welfare are really quite inspiring. Look forward to returning some day.

United KingdomIt wasn’t a negative, but if you’re very tall, you’ll need to be aware of your surroundings in the upper floor rooms.
A lovely atmosphere, the room was very comfortable, pleasant and interesting. The quality of everything was very high. The owners were very friendly, and the art displayed was fantastic and unique. Breakfast was astonishingly good.

United KingdomShared bathroom but necessary in an old building that has been converted to provide a home and 3 guest bedrooms - there is an en suite option as well but I missed that Dalbeattie itself is not that exciting with limited eating out options but a nice town and very friendly A great location to base yourself to explore further
So much - great interesting spacious room so well equipped - tea/Tunnock biccies!/bottled water - doggie bowl/blanket/towel - very comfortable bed So welcoming and very relaxed and comfortable Breakfast - way beyond anything I have ever experienced in a b+b or a hotel for that matter Also special mention for Dalbeattie - people we met in the pub and the local hotel were so very friendly Excellent access to the whole of the Solway Coast, Castle Douglas/Kirkcubright,

We loved the bedroom Picasso perfect for a family of 4, fridge tea coffee, hotchoc, and tunnochs finest biscuits. Shared bathroom was lovely. No drama sharing with one other room at all. All very clean, creative and inviting. Breakfast was exceptional so many options, could have feasted all day! On road parking and there was a safe garage to store our bikes in overnight.

United KingdomWe had winter duvets on the beds which was a little overkill, but there were also lightweight sheets that we could swap over so we didn't cook up in the attic.
The whole house had a lovely feel and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. We were able to store our bikes in their garage overnight which was brilliant, and all the rooms were beautifully presented. The breakfast was amazing, absolutely everything you could imagine made available and the dining room was a lovely space to eat in.
