Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomWe got there and had to fill in a load of details on line also had to upload licence or passport luckily I had one with me all this had to be done outside as couldn't get in, then had to pay a £50 room deposit before they send u the access code to get in. room was large, décor ok but mattresses were cheapest of cheap layed on them and u was laying on the base, really poor quality floor would have been better......
Shower was amazing but (Caution) very slippery we put a hand towel on shower tray... But that's all we liked

None of the residents knew which room they were booked into, or the code to access the key, or even that there are key safes at the back of the building if you didn't use the car park and spot them. The folder for residents in the kitchen had the wrong WiFi code, and I couldn't find any toilet rolls when we ran out. There is nobody on site to ask for this sort of thing. Being a novice, I didn't know how to get the key pad at the front door to work. The system needs tweaking. On the plus side, the person at the other end of the email address responded in about half an hour which was useful. I think some residents had more trouble than we did. The other things I want to say are that I've never been asked for a security deposit before (and £150 seems excessive, I will be checking my bank account to see that it is returned) or a passport photo, also excessive, especially as we never met anyone so it could have been anyone's photo.
The location was good, facilities good and comfortable, this was what we were looking for.

United KingdomRemote control & heater didn’t work & the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The other guests came in late & got up extremely early making loads of noise without any respect for others. The toilets in the other rooms were very noisy too. I booked two nights & left first thing after the first night. I contacted them & they said sorry & thanks for your comments but didn’t offer any money back which was extremely disappointing. . I will never use booking.com if that’s the properties they promote. Perhaps you can get me some money back as I feel I’ve been ripped off? Thanks

United KingdomEverything. I booked and left London then I have to book again on their website plus a security deposit and then they wanted a photo of my passport which wasn't clear enough for them. I assumed they could take a photo once I arrived but there was no on site staff 24/7. Security lights did not work and they had stupid 7 digit key codes everytime you left for the kitchen . I booked 9 nights and left after 3 nights. Thought it was awful. Have stayed in a lot of.plaves but not even a laminate to.tell guests were the nearest shop or restaurant or supermarket was! Stod on the street having to ask locals. There were no bars or restaurant in the local area. 2 supermarkets 5 minutes away. They had a smart tv but no live or free view television. The place was clean. Absolutely hated it there. Such a waste of money and the key codes did not work upon my arrival. On their confirmation details they need to dirificate between the code to the front door a d the bedroom. I was in room 12 but they only had 10 rooms. After 20mins on hold I went for a walk and my room was in the next.door property. Absolutely hopeless customer service. So regretted staying there and left early. Couldn't stand it any longer.

The beds would be better without a mattress, considering their state. You are literally sleeping on springs. The power went off 2 hours before checkout. That couldn't be helped and they sent someone within the hour
