dinner menu never changed from last visit to this time limited options. never had breakfast. Faults in bedroom not acceptable (1) curtains ripped on both sides need replaced. (2) bed side table lamp shade broken. (3) Faulty kettle, the kettle had a PAT sticker on but kettle not working properly and as stated on kettle the PAT Sticker had the WORDS FAULTY NOT TO BE USED. This is a total health and safety issue and not acceptable.

The hotel needs some attention, conservatory where we had evening meal was very cold , paint splashes on roof very rough looking, water damage on window sills , cobwebs on lights . The bathroom in the bedroom needs attention grout on bathroom tiles missing, silicone round the bath was a disgrace not 4 star finishing.Boiler in hotel gad broken down on last morning so no hot water for showers , compensated with £30 off bill thought they could have done better with their compensation.

The staff were exceptional, in a nice area near the beach and restaurants.

Service at breakfast was not great. As above would have liked to have known about deals for including meal and breakfast. Repeat visitor and felt I could have been offered a better deal.

Location is lovely. Evening meal was good but would prefer to have known in advance that deals were on offer. Breakfast was good too and enjoyable when it arrived.

Stayed 2 nights and room wasn't cleaned after first night. I had to park in tree area and collected mud in my boots which came off on the carpet (which was embarrassing for me) but was left on the floor until I left. Wash hand basin similarly not cleaned after first night

Being told that you had to give 24 hours notice if you required an afternoon tea, which was heavily promoted throughout the hotel with no mention of the 24 hours notice.

Everything was top quality, clean, good food, staff friendly.

Main part of hotel lacked atmosphere. Single person at reception desk to check us in but no info about where to have breakfast, where we could get a drink or sit. Downstairs seemed very quiet so we just stayed in our room. Breakfast was excellent though - when we found the room!

The room not being made ready. We were given the keys but on entering room towels left on floor of bathroom, bed unmade and bins full of rubbish. We expected an upgrade but did not receive the same quality of room and also a floor higher. We did expect some compensation.

I was woken up by room service. Maybe my own fault for not having the do not disturb sign up but at the same time, if someone is only staying one night I wouldn't expect room service!! They didn't even knock either, just opened the door and put the lights on. Not great considering I purposely came to the hotel for a rest.

The staff were fantastic, very welcoming on arrival. There was a function going on and my room was right above which wasn't great, I would have thought they would put non function guests in another part of the hotel, however it did all settle down by midnight which is nice. Would definitely stay again.

No dogs allowed to return. A decent revenue for quiet times would be made by using a couple of the coachhouse rooms for dog owners not allowing the dogs in main hotel of course.

The first room was on the first floor. Given its an old building, the walls and ceilings are thin: we could hear the people above us and people walking down the corridor sounded like they were in our room. The second room on the top floor was much better.

Beautiful old mansion with matching furniture. Very well trained staff. When we were staying there we booked an extra night and wanted to move to another room, which was no problem. They even moved out stuff to the other room while we were out. Nice views outside the hotel, easy to find. Spacious.

I had a small room in the old part of the hotel. It was cold, especially in the evening. And quite dark. Could have done with some double glazing, and a new bathroom.

Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Good location, though better with a car. Some of the public rooms are quite grand, with lovely views to the sea in the distance.
