Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
Impeccable everything. Exquisite attention to detail. Relaxed atmosphere. Quiet. I am a light sleeper and did not hear a pin drop. Amazing breakfasts. Short walk to restaurants through the garden gate and a rewilded field managed for butterflies & moths through which a path had been mown. The scent of stocks as we walked past, bird song.

We had a lovely studio room (the Doghouse) which was large and very well equipped. There was a generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits and even a welcoming small bottle of single malt whisky! The hosts were very hospitable and the breakfasts the best we've had with beautiful views from the dining room.

United KingdomLeaving!
We travel extensively for both work and pleasure and this guset house is one the best value for money we have ever stayed in. Just occasionally you find a true gem, and this is it. The standard of decor and cleanliness is exceptional. The rooms are large and incredibly well appointed with small additons you would not find in many places. The range of breakfast items is also exceptional and the quality of food first class. Ruby and her husband thoroiughly deserve the excellent reviews they receive. They are perfect hosts and maintain the highest standards of hospitality. We hope to return soon.

United KingdomThere is nothing about the Sutherlands Guest House that I did not like. It's a 10 out of 10 for me.
Staying at Sutherlands Guest House restored my faith in B&Bs. From the moment we arrived, Ruby was extremely welcoming and friendly. We stayed mid-week when it was quiet so got to pick our breakfast time, which I later noticed was after their standard breakfast hours but Ruby & Raymond were more than happy to accommodate us. The facilities are exceptionally well kept and so clean. The cute additional touches such as fresh milk in the fridge, homemade biscuits and even a "wee dram" also really made our stay. Breakfast was lovely and Ruby always took a few minutes to ask about our plans for the day and give suggestions. Ruby and Raymond have created an amazing place and I can't wait to go back.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
It was an exceptional stay - the breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was the best I’ve had in a bed and breakfast. The room was wonderful, it was spotless! The bed and breakfast was wonderfully presented and we loved the little Easter additions (Easter egg basket in our room, daffodils on the breakfast tables). We would highly recommend!

United StatesThis is no reflection on the guest house, but our stay was late in the season and there were not many restaurants open in Kingussie. This just meant that we had to do a little more pre-planning for dinners than we might otherwise.
Our accommodations at this guest house were amazing - very large, very modern, well-decorated room with spa bathroom and all the amenities we needed. The owners have definitely gone above and beyond. Breakfasts were also amazing - Raymond is a wonderful chef and Ruby made sure we had all we needed. We would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

United StatesSpectacular! Wow! This was one of our two favorite places to stay on a three week driving tour of Scotland. The setting, the room (Spey) and bathroom, the service, and the food were all exceptional. Raymond is a trained chef and the food is wonderful (the homemade shortbreads in our room each night was a delicious and appreciated touch). Excellent selection of chef prepared breakfast food - the homemade jam is outstanding. Ruby, our friendly hostess, helped us get a dinner spot at the Letterbox (small restaurant in nearby Newtonmore - my favorite meal of the trip it was amazing). We stayed in the Spey room - very large and wonderfully appointed; the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom deserves mention for sure: it's the size of a bedroom (it's huge!) with a bathtub, fancy shower, and separate toilet room --- you could have a dance in there! Everything was very clean. There's also a lounge area to hang out in which was beautiful and furnished with Scottish flair. The location of the B&B is wonderful - it's convenient to Speyside whisky distilleries, Folk Music, Cairngorms; the sheepdog demonstrations by Neil Ross at nearby Leault Farm were special and fun to see. Sutherlands is a wonderful home base in this area. Ten stars - highly recommend. Be sure to stay a few days as there is so much to see in the area.
