Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Marie and Clive were excellent hosts in this beautiful character B&B. Superb breakfast and they had a separate toaster and gluten free sausages for me as I’m coeliac. An added bonus was the tearoom in the front garden ( with a lovely gluten free cream tea) We will definitely be back

United KingdomThere is nothing of serious nature we didn’t like. At most the one bedside lamp was a lot brighter compared to the other but again. It’s a small criticism
It was a lovely period building with complimenting rooms. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We got chatting with them about the buildings history and they were very helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had so far on our honeymoon. We will be returning.

United KingdomUnfortunately the otherwise very good Guest House was sadly let down by the standard of my small room and tiny private bathroom which is in serious need of updating and refurbishment (broken door lock, shower control bar loose, broken boarding to side of sink etc). For the high rate paid I expected better, which is a shame as I suspect all other rooms may be of a higher standard and all other aspects of my stay were very good.
Friendly host, cleanliness and excellent breakfast menu

AustraliaI was locked out after arriving at 8.30pm I had sent message earlier to say I was still coming but when I arrived I got an email telling me to go and stay at the Crown Hotel The receptionist at the Crown Hotel told me that she had sent clients to the B&B a short time before me and they got a room If you check emails between B&B and myself you will see that I replied to say I was still coming. I am very disappointed, and would like to be compensated for the night I was shut out and had to pay for the Crown Hotel Sincerely Ethel Young

United KingdomBathroom could do with some work (this was discussed with Maria in the morning) Perhaps some blackout curtains for the room would be a good idea?
Owners were really nice and I spoke to Maria extensively in the morning over breakfast (which itself was very good!) The room was tidy and clean - the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed several cups of tea and felt at home in my room.

United KingdomThe creaking floor boards on the landing of the first floor need sound-proofing. The breakfast coffee needs an upgrade !
Clean, basic rooms in a beautiful historic house in the heart of Lynton town.Friendly hosts, central location (the bus stop is a 3 minute walk away) and good breakfasts. If you are walking the south west coastal path then the route westwards continues a short walk down the hill.

United KingdomNothing really; the room was fine - though the ceiling was a bit low, especially in the bathroom!
Everything was fine and the room was lovely and quiet. Lynton is a lovely small town and Lynmouth is also excellent - there is some lovely walking nearby - though climbing the hill after the funnicular had stopped for the evening really got the heart pumping!

United KingdomThe pets of the house being able to roam about in guest areas, was a surprise to us as their dog is large with a loud, intimidating bark. Cat allowed in breakfast room, people with allergies perhaps should be made aware beforehand.
Superb breakfast, pleasant room which included generous range of biscuits and drinks, including filter coffee. Friendly, obliging and helpful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

United KingdomJust one or two small things that I was able to discuss with the proprietors, and the bathroom was separate from the room. I understand plans are underway to change this.
It was a quiet location, lovely room, friendly hosts, great breakfast.
