Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was advertised as being an old school but you wouldn't know, there was no resemblance of there being a school.

United KingdomWe had major issues with our electrics and did not feel that the staff were that interested in sorting it or even for the people after us. Water was cold until we asked for it to be turned on.
It is the site of the D-Day Landing decisions and I think the hotel really needs to push that more. I feel there needs to be a lot more about the history of the building and the location as it does have so much iconic history to offer. Room was fine.

AustraliaThe room was warm (like most interiors in London), but thankfully we could open the window during the evening to let the cool air in.
The location suited us well, the room was elegant, quiet, and beautiful. The bathroom was spacious & worked well. The entire hotel felt luxurious, breakfast was lovely, and the gardens & outdoor terraces were much appreciated.

United KingdomTook the full amount on booking and asked for a £150 holding deposit. Lack lustre interaction with staff and lift was not working on my visit. The bathroom was good, but I did miss a bath for a soak after all the walking I did, but that's a personal thing and the shower had good water pressure.
Perfect location and such a lovely building.Excellent public transport links with the number 9 bus running directly from outside the hotel, which will take you to Hammersmith bus station or to Aldwych. Excellent housekeeping

United KingdomWe travelled with two relatives, both with limited mobility. Despite saying this nobody read the request for a ground floor room nor did they offer anything when we arrived to find the lift broken. The receptionist on the second day did move them the second day which was good. Breakfast quality was good but again, the staff seemed keen on being busy rather than listening, I was pounced on to give room numbers and asked for coffee or tea orders before I even knew what was on offer and 2 days in a row no toast was offered despite other tables being asked. None of these points in themselves were major just annoying and smacks of the need for proper training? On departure I was asked to pay for something without seeing the bill, little things matter.

United KingdomThey were unclear as to what was included and not included when it came to breakfast. They need to up their game when dealing with people with allergies
Nice spacious bedroom. Clean and tidy. Liked the bathroom but it was a disabled room on the first floor. Couldn’t be used for disabled as the lift was out of action. Had a meal in the restaurant which was very nice but they couldn’t cope with my wife’s dairy allergy. Had to have meals with missing items. Their idea of coping with allergies was by omission rather than substitution. Spent more on the meal for two than on the cost of the room including breakfast!

United KingdomThe room we were assigned, number 23 on the 1st floor, had a view of their rubbish skip. They could at least put a roof over the area or find a way to hide it from view, so it's not visible from the rooms above it, as it ruins the experience. One of the windows didn't close properly, leaving an approximately 2 cm gap in one of the top corners where you could see outside. As this room faced the street, we could hear the noise from the traffic. Having windows that close properly would significantly reduce the outside noise. The room looked clean overall, but there were black mould marks in the corners of the walk-in shower. Also, the extractor fan was not working, or perhaps we missed the way to turn it on even though we did look around for it. Lastly, one of the receptionists was not as attentive during checkout. She asked the guests, checking out right in front of us if they had a good experience and wished them a nice day. When she got to us, she just took our room key and simply said we were all set. It felt a bit awkward to both myself and my partner. Regardless of these issues, our overall stay was a positive one. Despite the little things we mentioned, they could be easily improved, and we would stay here again, though perhaps not in the same room.
For a London hotel (usually with tiny rooms), it was a lovely quiet and decent size room in a safe and nice part of the city. They also have a nice terrace to enjoy drinks and a meal on a hot day or evening. Dinner at the Melody Restaurant was lovely, and the lady who served us was very nice, professional, and attentive.

United KingdomSlight mix up on our booking with breakfast (we had paid for it to be included but this wasn't on their records). This was quickly resolved by the helpful staff however.

United KingdomStaff on arrival were quite rude when checking in. Could not get a drink at the bar at 10.45pm when asked if I could take it to my room they still refused . No room service available. A outside fan was going all night and whenever the rooms above flushed the toilet or run the shower you could hear it next to my bed.

United KingdomI was really disappointed by the seemingly unhappy nature of the staff we encountered, other than the lovely lady on reception in the morning. There was also no one around for breakfast. I had to find someone to advise us what table to sit at and find someone again for coffee. These are small and minor problems but not what I expected.
Our room was beautiful. The hotel is really lovely and it was our second stay here.
