When hotel is full car parking can be very tight squeeze.But secure.

Hotel was lovely.Reception great room ready early as did online check in.Room beautiful well appointed decor fridge with milk in it so you could make a decent cuppa.Food excellent dined in on all three evenings and nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff.Hotel positioned right on the sandy beach next to the little ferry which takes you into Salcombe itself.

Bed slightly hard for me but all else was a great hit.

Fantastic place for a stay away or holiday, can't beat the beach literally at the doorstep. Great friendly professional service, food menu has great choice and presented very well. Best place yet for taking our two Westies dogs as they cater for them very well including complimentary towels in the entrance to wipe down dogs after the beach.

Fab staff offering a great stay in a cosy hotel on south sands beach . Swim every morning . Great shower in the new refurbished room . Food was yummy in the restaurant and breakfast was quality and enjoyable.

The very steep approach road likely to put some people off

Great sea views. Fantastic location. Far nicer area than Salcombe village which is basically full of fashion shops and no beach. Nice ferry ride from Salcombe to South Sands. Great bar balcony at the beachfront.

Food at dinner was disappointing overall. It was very average for the price. Unfortunately there is not much alternative unless one wishes to take a cab into Salcombe. The fresh fish on the specials board appears to be the safest option.

No one on the reception desk when we arrived, shower intermittently went from hot to cold, bedside lamp did not work, walls were very thin between rooms as well as poor appearance at the car park entrance and overall parking area including lack of signage for guests. I expected more due to the premium price.

Much like lots of places today, the hotel is dog friendly. This is the only downside for us, however the standards expected of clientele with canine accompaniment are very discerning. Special mats are provided for dogs to lay on in the public areas as are towels to use for wet weather or swimming situations. A couple of times dogs barked but to he honest all the applicanle residents had total control in preventing disturbance to other guests. The room was a bit on the small side compared to similar accommodation but this didn't pose an issue as we were out most of the day.

A superb hotel. The view from the bar and restaurant is simply stunning, right on the beach looking across the mouth of the river and out towards the sea. Could be fooled by thinking it is on the Italian Riviera or off the coast of Croatia. The food was exceptional, always hot, freshly cooked and consistent throughout the week. The staff are well trained and have a wonderful sense of etiquette. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel, in being in probably the most elite part of Devon, is not cheap but you get what you pay for. We wanted pure relaxation, a great spot and a place away from noise and the usual holidaymaker atmosphere (no disrespects to anyone) and indeed we got it.
