Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomMy flat was Perfect. BUT……. The building itself needs proper Facilities Management. The Lift did not work for the entire duration of my stay. No adequate information, no one was certain when it would be fixed etc.
APARTMENT: My Host did an excellent job of welcoming me. I was sent a video on how to gain access to the apartment. My Host made sure the apartment was cleaned before my arrival and upon discovery of the broken Lift, made arrangements for my large suitcase to be taken up the staircase to the top floor of the building. On getting to the building, my Host kept speaking to me on the phone as I had misplaced my glasses and couldn’t see properly. Her patience and calmness was extremely helpful. The apartment is exactly like the pictures on display. Nothing missing, nothing broken. It was excellent. A real home away from home. I baked, I cooked etc. LOCATION: Excellent location, it’s a about 5 minutes away from the Shopping Centre. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

CanadaLift is NOT working the whole time during our stay. There is lots of rubbish on the staircase and smelly. We have not received our DEPOSIT OF 100 POUNDS. WE WANT OUR REFUND AS WE KEEP THE PLACE JUST THE WAY AS WE ENTER. IT IS ALMOST 3 WEEKS AND WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT YET. BUT THE DEPOSIT, THEY HAVE TO RECEIVE IT A MONTH BEFORE WE ARRIVE.
Location is good, inside is good. getting the code to enter the apartment is not as good as we did not have cellular service for our phone.

United KingdomThe host never answered any electronic communications either by email or text. I contacted them in advance with a couple of questions and they were all ignored. Information was sent out just before we needed it, and it contained everything we needed to know to get in, but only this standard information was given. We had several problems during our stay, one of the door codes was initially not provided, the second bed was not made up and the downstairs door code changed during our stay. Each time it took a phone call to the host to get it sorted. It was then sorted smoothly, but it always needed us to take the initiative, there never was any proactivity or indeed communication other than by phone. While the flat was perfectly comfortable and well kitted out, there were no instructions for anything, we needed to look for it ourselves e.g. find the wifi code ourselves on the modem, find how the heating worked (not straight forward) and indeed notice ourselves that there was no bedding for the second bed. Even then when we communicated this clear shortcoming by text, no action was taken, only when we finally rang.
The flat was very centrally located in a historic district. It was easy to park in nearby car park and explore the town as well as the surrounding area. The host was accessible by phone when we had any issues.
