Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhat a lovely cottage. It has so much character but is also a good size. I loved sitting in the garden in the morning with my coffee and sketch pad. The rooms are a good size and the beds are comfy. The kitchen has everything you need. It was great to have the option of sitting in the conservatory or the lounge. The surrounding walks in the area are delightful and the White Horse Inn, the pub down the road, has good food and the staff are very friendly, closed on Monday and Tuesday though. We would definitely come and stay at Silhouette Cottage again.

United KingdomI have marked down slightly for facilities because of the stairs. They are very narrow and steep to climb.
Spacious rooms. Listening to the birds singing in the garden and an Owl hooting at night was just lovely. Weather wasn't great at first but there were plenty of board games and DVDs to keep us entertained during the bad weather.

United KingdomDrive is a bit narrow but we got the hang of it. Stairs are narrow and a bit steep. Fine for us but could be a problem for people with mobility issues.
Clean, comfortable, kitchen was very well equipped so we ate there every night as had our young dog with us. Pub next door very friendly and food looked amazing. We would definitely return

United KingdomStairs to go up to bedrooms were very narrow, small step footings and very steep. Even though the stairs were carpeted, our dog had to sleep downstairs as she couldn’t manage to go up or down the stairs. People with mobility issues may not have an easy time getting up/down as well.
Very clean, well furnished, charming, well stocked and had all thoughtful homely touches. Wood burning fireplace stove, TV with DVDs/streaming and WiFi great! Kitchen is large and there was one full size fridge-freezer and one small fridge. It had everything needed to cook meals and dishwasher made washing up a breeze. Master bedroom was large and spacious with comfortable good sized bed. Second bedroom was comfortable too. Bathroom and large tub with shower was great! Pet friendly was a plus!!

United KingdomThe staircase is quite steep (we're in our seventies!) and there was a leak in the conservatory.
Silhouette Cottage is just as lovely as it looks in the photos and the location is perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean. There is literally everything you need in the cottage. The garden is really lovely, lots of trees and shrubs full of birdsong. The White Horse is practically at the end of the drive and you are guaranteed good food, local beer and a warm welcome. Very dog friendly!

United KingdomThis was our 3rd stay at the cottage. It is a beautiful cottage and has everything you could want. Its lovely to sit outside and watch the birds in the garden. It's a short drive from Coleford where there are several small supermarkets. It's around 15 minutes drive to some of the main attractions in the Forest such as Cannop ponds and cycle hire, Beechenhurst and the Arboretum.

United KingdomExcellent and well-equipped cottage. Lovely woodburner and all you could want for a comfortable stay. Really close to lots a places to see - historical architecture (Tintern Abbey and the Three Castles etc.) and nice small towns - and good walks. The weather was obligingly mild and we even sat out in the garden with a glass of wine every evening.
