Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCar parking - surprised we had to pay extra? And why couldn't we get a ticket for our whole stay instead of having to refresh every 24 hours? Also no ventilation in the bathroom?

United KingdomRoom service and bar opening times were the main concerns. It’s nice to get a drink after a game of golf or after a meal.
The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice.room a good size and comfortable, close to ferry on seafront. Disappointed that rooms were not serviced or replenished during our 3 night stay. Had to requested toilet rolls, extra tea milk etc all of which you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. Disappointed that bar closed early - 1 hour before advertised time which was not ideal for a group of 6 male golfers at the end of the day.

United KingdomSpa facilities need to be updated on the website as there are no spa facilities or gym now, its just a leisure pool which is OK but has no beds around it so you can't really sit a relax.
We stayed in an Atrium view suite, separate living room, large double bedroom and large bathroom with bath tub and separate shower. Both living room and bedroom had a balcony out to the internal water garden atrium, so relaxing. Couldn't have asked for more.

Isle of ManFeel the hotel bar let them down - not quite in keeping with the style of the hotel. No beer at all as they had run out!!!
Location of hotel is wonderful - across the road from the prom and beautiful sunken gardens and close to pedestrian shopping street. Breakfast was very good with excellent choices and quality food.

United KingdomOur keys stopped working 2 days on the trot, but the staff sorted it straightaway. There was litter someone's takeaway in the corridor to the green lift that was there the whole weekend.
The location and the atrium bedroom. Comfy bed, the facilities in the room, and it's got to be the best hairdryer in a hotel that I've stayed at.

United KingdomI felt the hotel overall was outdated, simple things like a more modern TV could help improve this at a relatively low price
The breakfast was excellent, one of the nicest buffet breakfasts I have seen in a while. Great choice of fresh fruits, berry’s, chilled meats and cheese. With good quality produce used on the cooked English breakfast

Isle of ManPool area however is tired and in need of an update - there’s the most unpleasant smell in the changing rooms, I suspect it to be the drain system. No air conditioning in a hot atrium room, so we left our balcony doors open to allow air to circulate. Unfortunately this meant we were rudely awoken at 7.45am when staff started setting up for a function. Bathroom - clean but in need of an update, black grout in the shower, shower curtain didn’t fit properly, and the water fell beyond the tray, soaking the floor (thankfully we still had our pool towels to soak this up) Dirty seat pad on the dressing table chair.
Pool is lovely. Staff are always polite and want to be of help. Breakfast room is bright and airy. Nice white fluffy towels. Comfy bed.

United KingdomApart, from some rooms being dated. This is because it is an old hotel. It is still a great hotel.
I have stayed in the Sefton before. I like the location. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great. Some rooms are a bit dated. But they are clean and tidy. It's a great place to stay. Transport from Douglas is easily accessed. So you can easily explore the rest of the Island. I know that it is a hotel. That I would certainly go back too.

United KingdomEverything was fine at the Sefton. Friendliness of the staff, facilities, food and location. I just felt that in some areas it was such a shame that a beautiful Hotel was looking a little tired and in need of some cosmetic attention.

United KingdomThe room was spotless but very dated. Also a window was wedged open with a piece of wood that was screwed in so we couldn't close the window. The bed could do with replacing.
Breakfast choices were very good and my sister in law is gluten free there were plenty of option for her too. Location was excellent right in the middle of the promenade close to ameneties.
