The property boasted a mini grand electric piano which our host was happy for me to play. But unfortunately many of the notes didn’t work. The only other thing we mentioned was that the rise and fall shower pole was loose and needed tightening.

The property is ideally placed situated 100 yards from the top of the funicular railway. Providing easy access to coastal and inland walks. It offers panoramic views of the estuary from the dining room and veranda seating. Breakfast was served on a variety of bone china which complimented the Victorian decor in a pleasing fusion of contemporary design. I mentioned breakfast but it would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention just how good it was. The eggs were so rich and perfectly cooked. Whichever menu option we chose it was delivered quickly with a smile. Making the ideal start to every morning.

No fault of the hotel but the weather turned inclement for early September and the heating wasn't on - meaning that the room was cool.. No problem, though, as there was a lovely blanket to get cosy under, curled up on the sofa; or the choice to use the warmer lounge downstairs.

Beautiful suite with seaview, comfy bed and hot water. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. Every effort was made to make it quintessentially English. Private parking and a few minutes walk to Linton. Throughly enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to anyone who would like a quiet and safe place to stay.

The water pressure is too high meaning the water shoots out even when hot making it difficult to use . Car park is great but if just one car parks at an angle it makes it really difficult for others to get out .

Stunning location overlooking North Cliffs out to sea , Peter was a great host and the room was lovely & clean . Great new kitchen area .

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful view. Sitting outside overlooking the bay - inside too (very well positioned comfortable seats looking out to sea) It felt like a home from home, not simply a hotel. Honesty Bar

It wasn’t clear when booking that evening meals were no longer available and I was under the impression that there was a bar but there wasn’t though there was an honesty bar and fridge with most drinks available. Wine choice was bang average at best.

Beautiful period property in a great location with stunning views over Lynmouth Bay. Excellent breakfast but evening meals not available. Parking is good. Peter and the staff are very helpful. Very comfortable room with great views.

We didn't get to try evening meal at the Seawood House as its closed on Sunday and Monday. We were happy with selection of alternatives in the town though.

Breakfast was very good. Good choices and quality including: fruit salad; pastries; toast; fruit juice; full English etc. Hotel was clean and communal rooms had interesting and varied decor. Staff were available when needed, but mostly stay out of sight getting on with the days tasks. Well stocked Honesty bar available. Shortish (5min) but uphill walk to town and good selection of places to eat. Lots of hills everywhere in this area though... it's part of the appeal!

The only difficulty for us was the access to the parking area for the hotel, it was tricky to negotiate at times and the parking was a little restrictive. Other than that it was splendid and we loved it.

The location is wonderful, stunning views from the veranda, the property is beautifully maintained and charming on the inside. Particularly liked the china for a proper cup of tea. Loved the location for visiting either Lynton or the funicular down to Lynmouth. Beautiful walks (some can be steep) nearby with stunning views, even in the rain. The breakfast served was first class.
