Lots of stairs with a heavy case to our high level room, but definitely worth it. The room was great.

Beautiful building, full of character, unlike many soulless modern hotels. Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff, great location just short stroll from town and the seafront. So nice to sit in the sun in the beautifully kept gardens and enjoy a drink after a long drive.

Wasn’t keen on the stairs but only because I have mobility issues. It’s an old building so no elevator. The staff offered to give us a hand with our luggage.

It was just a bit too warm (sorry!) heating on but very sunny day and large windows made it a bit too warm.

Beautiful hotel, great location. Breakfast very good. We had plans so didn’t stay for dinner but menu looked good. Really nice young lady that checked us in. Would definitely stay again if returning to Ayr.

The room, though spacious, had a small window with a terrible view looking out over storage containers. Couldn’t open bathroom windows and pipes rumbled when toilet was flushed. A door banging closed nearby was an irritant at times.

Location close to sea front and town centre was ideal. Friendly staff made our stay very pleasant. Though booked in for bed and breakfast the food was excellent and there was enough choice that we ate dinner in the hotel every night. The hotel was in the process of changing its menu during our stay and the new menu was financially a better deal. Fine weather meant we could make use of the secluded garden at the back of the hotel.

The room was particularly warm with a large hot water pipe in the bathroom which meant the room was hot even with the window open. This was not a problem as the car park outside was quiet.

The hotel although old Is traditional decorated and furnished which makes the hotel be different from many others. We loved it and thought it was comfortable and clean.

In keeping with the property there is no lift however when you have been allocated a room up in the roof it is quite difficult to carry your luggage up( and down)the final very narrow staircase. So if mobility is an issue or you have a large suitcase as I did ensure you request a room on a lower floor before you go!!

Friendly and quick check in. Room was a great size and very comfortable. Hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities available. The decor of the hotel is definitely in keeping with the style of the building with lovely old oak panelling throughout. Can't comment on the evening dining options as we are out but breakfast was great with a good variety of options and no problem when I wanted to make a few changes to the menu options! Staff all friendly and efficient. It is also only a 10 min walk into town where there are lots of eating out options.

The cosy room is small with no room to move about comfortably. I would suggest it is a single bed and not a double bed. If you are used to a king size don’t book this room

The stairs were a nightmare, especially the ones up to the attic rooms. Don't understand why they hike prices up for Racing days, they should know they will sell on such a busy weekend very naughty, they all do the same.

Breakfast was very nice, but you had to ask for everything you wanted, a separate table for juice & cereals etc would have been better. Evening meal was also very nice, everything cooked fresh to order. Plenty of choice on menu.

The only issue we had was the location of our room. Felt like we were in the attic. We both have heart issues and climbing lots of stairs was a struggle. perhaps this needs to be a warning? Don't know how a elderly couple would cope with it.

Beautiful hotel. Our room was huge, spotless & comfortable. The Staff were very friendly and informative. Restaurant served lovely food.
