Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot keen on having to leave a £100 deposit after paying upfront on booking, but I guess this may be a decision made through owners past experience?
I had booked a very small room but was upgraded to a much larger room with a cosy seating area.

United KingdomMaybe a fan when it's warm, we had the door open but couldn't leave it open during the night, and it was quite hot in the room (although it was a particular hot weekend weather wise, so that didn't help)
Parking was good. The room had everything we needed- was clean, had a fidgeµwave in the room. It was quiet, even though its next to the pub. It was on the ground floor, so ideal if wanting/needing somewhere without steps. Didn't use the WiFi as used our own mobile data.

United KingdomOur stay was cancelled, due to WiFi in area, we travelling from Suffolk, notice recieved 20 mins before check in, when we phoned the lady standing in for hosts (hosts had gone away) she didn't know what to do.!! So we rebooked as still available on booking.com... Lucky as area was limited. It was just muddled. I had to show my account as proof if payment. The bed was uncomfortable slippery underlay, didn't like sink on top of toilet system. Took £100 deposit to be paid back on day of check out (Sunday, recieved it late Monday) following phone call.
Nice area, the room was okay.. Not over impressed.

United KingdomThe manager was very helpful from the minute we arrived until we left. Lots of information in the room detailing the history of the establishment and also how to get the use of iron/board and hair dryer. The food was amazing in the pub in the evening and very well priced. Excellent value for money.

United KingdomThe matteress in the annexe was old, and the bedding was a bit damp. The layout of the room was nice, and my dog biscuit really liked looking out the french doors. However, I'd probably have moved the fridge as you couldn't open it fully because of the set of drawers. There were work men that were working on room next door very early in the morning. plastering, which we weren't too bothered about because we were a last-minute booking, and It couldn't have been helped Very dog friendly.
It was very last minute due to a previous place double booked us. The staff and locals in the pub were very friendly and told us how to get to the beach. The room was nice, It was clean and had all the facilities we needed for the one night.

United KingdomThe mattress was old and needs replacing so not a good night's as sleep. They were have the place next door refurbished so during the day it was like being on a building site. No breakfast supplied and just main course for evening meal,no starters or desert. Had to put each day to find breakfast. Bins were never emptied and room was not cleaned for 4 days
The place was easy to find and it was nice and quiet at night.

United KingdomWe parked up and we’re greeted by a very drunken lady vomiting outside ; I thought it might have been a “ fun pub” unfortunately not , she was the only patron at the time ( 3pm Saturday afternoon) ….lovely setting ,very friendly bar staff. Checked us into our annex room ( we are a mid- aged couple , no pets,, no trouble and definitely not a Karen !! ) ….it was fine , very basic “ London” style decor was dated and well worn but the mattress looked like it was from the 70’s ( brown with orange & white huge flowers ) and a mattress “ topper “ that looks like it’s been also slept on since 1970 - the fitted sheet didn’t fit and looked like we had a “ryvita” beneath us . There was a microwave and toaster in the room as well as a fridge ( good points ; I’d brought some booze to put in the fridge- I wish I’d brought food !) ……quite worrying there was an adjoining room door - which wasn’t locked on either side -there was a dirty looking single mattress in the middle to deter you from entering the adjoining room !! Free Wi-Fi , two codes in the room ; neither worked ! Looking outside the property there was a good extensive all day menu and ask for the days “ specials” , however we were told that food was served from “ about 5:30 -8pm “ - we asked about the specials when we went to order food at 6pm and we were instructed to look at the badly spelt board outside ( the one that said “ ask about the specials “ ! ) …….I ordered a home made pie with chips & veg but specified “ no carrots “ as I’m allergic …when my meal arrived , of course , it had carrots but the landlord actually said “ you asked for no carrots didn’t you …well just push them to one side !The landlord was very rude ; albeit arrogant. When the landlords son collected my plate he asked what was wrong as there was food left , I said it was asked for no carrots , he just laughed and said such a shame , my Dad is deaf perhaps he didn’t hear!
It was clean, with free parking and quiet.
