Pleasant stay in the heart of Nottingham.

You have to walk uphill. The breakfast might have more fresh/green choices. The elevators are a bit funny and outdated. The enormous parking house next door is a bit scary.

The location is perfect - ca 100m from the Nottingham Castle entrance, about 5 min from the Rail Station. Room was rather small, nut with a small-size bath and facilities quite enjoyable. No Air-Conditioning, but open window worked just fine. Optional greetings white wine with a cooler which served as a fridge for next 4 days.

I didn't use the shower as there was a wet towel in the shower tray. Very off putting. Everywhere seemed clean so possibly had been put over top of shower and fell into tray and got wet? But I really didn't want to touch the towel or use the shower.

The location is good This was my second stay at the hotel. Room small but fine for overnight stay and great for city centre.

Breakfast was not refreshed often enough and food was overcooked, dry or inedible. Was not worth £13.50. Housekeeping only replaced shower gel toiletries once during a 4 day stay. No staff visible in reception. Parking in NCP not discounted.

Good location near the castle and some nice restaurants/bars nearby. Staff were friendly.

The crash pad in which I stayed had stains on the carpet and peeling paint. We requested breakfast at check in but this was not communicate to staff. We were able to have breakfast but there was an awkward moment. There was an incident in the entrance area in the evening. A guest was speaking very loudly and aggressively. The young lady at the reception desk was seen to stay calm but should have been supported by another colleague in case the problem escalated.

The breakfast was good. The room had a kettle and tea etc. Toiletries were provided.

Basic room, with a slightly dated bathroom, although I did choose the budget option. Parking is some 2 minutes walk away and although listed as a facility is an additional cost.

    Good breakfast and dinner.

Easier to use the NCP car park next door for the extra £1 rather than using their own offsite car park. Room was very hot even with heating off. Lifts unbelievably slow....

Great hotel, very modern feel to it, looks like recently refurbished. Very warm and helpful welcome from reception on check in. Room was ready early with no extra charge. Excellent location, would stay again

Pillows awful, very small bathroom and tiny shower door in an executive double. 3 coffee pods?? No fridge. Water pressure in shower not great. Cooked breakfast soggy and tasteless.

Didn't get much sleep as our room was near the lift and you could hear them through the night and early hours of the morning.

The small brown mini loaves were extremely hard, possibly stale. Some soft rolls would be nice.

I don't eat cooked breakfast but there was enough to keep me happy. I was glad to see yoghurt and some fresh fruit salad. Perhaps some more fruit?

No real complaints, to be honest. I did however noticed quite a few snags in my room 116, like the wardrobe top wasn't jointed together properly, the toilet seat wouldn't stay up, and the paint work could have been a bit more tidy around the edges. But I work in construction, so I naturally look for these things at the end of a job. No harsh feelings the room was lovely! Also I was put off from drinking the bottled water as £5 did seem alot for a drink. The teas that were supplied were very nice though :)

Breakfast was the highlight of my weekend, gotta love that bacon 🥓 , and the bread was so soft I could sleep on it. Staff were really friendly, and informative. Rooms we're clean, and overall the building had wonderful interior. I would definitely stay at St James again, if I should ever return to Nottingham. I will recommend this hotel to whom ever wishes to visit Nottinghamshire. Thank you for a pleasant stay :) That bacon though :p

Possibly the speed of one of the lifts, and some of the noise outside in the early hours, although little you could do about that since in warm weather the windows need to be open

Ease of checking in. Breakfast service
