Very unusual and rustic. It had great facilities for a farm on the outskirts of Barnard Castle. Lovely food, fabulous room.

I think this venue would be great for a group of people staying for a wedding or party. It was absolutely fine for one night during a work trip, with good room facilities. However, if I had staid there during hot weather I think it could have been problematic as I could not have the room window open due to the close proximity of the kitchen chiller (?) fans about 5 metres away.

Great bed and shower facility. Enjoyed the coffee making options too. Perfect location - quiet and rural, but close to a town for ammentities.

My only minor observation is that whilst the room was lovely, with decent facilities, unique decoration and good breakfast, I feel that if I hadn't been for the convenience attending a wedding... the cost of the room was much higher than I would have normally considered paying

Not much. Could have more variety on the menu for vegetarians.

The staff went out of their way to make us dinner although we arrived just before the kitchen was about to close. They also helped with early breakfast as we needed to leave before 8am. Best hospitality we've had in very long time. Really nice relaxed vibe and comfortable room.

Beautiful rooms. Great facilities. The restaurant has a delicious menu (and cocktails) and it was dog friendly. Our room and hot tub area looked out into the fields. It was bliss.

Room size was on the small size, despite booking a Courtyard Superior room, despite that my room has been put as a cosy double, I have double checked my booking confirmation and it definitely states ‘Superior Room’. At either side of the king size bed there was a shelf with right angles at head height which I didn’t feel comfortable with. Bathroom good. Door from the room to the outside walkway didn’t seem to have any soundproofing (room 15, same for room 25). Too many uneven walkways which could do easily be smoothed out. I would like to see permanent direct access from the courtyard accommodation to the function rooms ie not have to go through the public bar, outside, round the front and back in. No availability of food of any type after hours from Runa.

Breakfast was good, a pleasing range of options, fresh food. Location means Runa is easily accessible with a good sized car park. Outdoor areas are well lit and maintained. Shower was good. Nice atmosphere. Reception staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bar staff worked incredibly hard and presented drinks to a great standard, in the function rooms.

The bedwas in an alcove with walls on both sides no room at one side to get out. And the walls were dark which made it clostraphobic apart from that all good.

The breakfast was first class staff very friendly.
