Bed was uncomfortable. Ok for 2 nights but not for longer. The shower hose wouldn't stay up the riser which made getting a shower awkward. However there was a bath which was a nice surprise. The hotel recommends you leave your room key (an actual key on a large fob) at reception when you go out. £50 charge if you lose it. No problem. But getting the key back is not so easy as if people are checking in you have to wait in line, and on two occasions we were waiting quite some time just to get our key back to return to the room.The third time we took the risk and kept the key with us when going out!

Loved the elegant decor and old fashioned atmosphere. The reception and bar areas are lovely. Excellent location. Despite some negatives I would stay here again and would recommend for a very short break.

We stayed in a room that was awkward to get too had to use the lift to one floor to down half a floor became confusing after a drink or two!

Lovely hotel, rooms a little dated but a good size. Clean inside and had a lovely view to people watch. Great location for Scarborough

There was very little information for guests. Never got to see a dinner menu so we ate out. There is a pool, but there was no information about how guests could use the facilities or how much it would cost. Phone signal in Scarborough and in the hotel wasn't good. There was entertainment advertised in the evenings but never found any details of what it was.

The entrance/foyer of this hotel is spectacular. The staff were friendly and welcoming, that includes the cleaners. The beds were very comfortable. The room was spacious. The location was excellent, looking out from the cliff over the sea. Next to the tramway to the beach.

The bathroom needs refreshing/updating. Room window looked onto roof terrace - more privacy needed ie frosted window - also could hear all other patrons conversation in our room. Choice of pillows would be good. There was no top sheet on bed & too warm for quilt.

The welcome was friendly. The room was basic but clean. Comfortable bed. Staff were attentive and polite.

Very outdated rooms, it’s a key entry with the biggest keyring ever. it was absolutely red hot and the little fans didn’t do much. The beds were quite hard. It did us well for one night but wouldn’t stay for any longer. We would stay again regardless of this due to the location.

Location is absolutely fantastic! We were a 15/20 minute walk from the open air theatre. Stopped at the north riding pub on the way which we definitely recommend

Only niggle was I was unable to turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Large room with very comfortable beds. Modern bathroom. Everything worked. Central location. We didn’t have any meals so can’t comment on that.

Beautiful old style entrance & well presented lounge & bar. Good location for the cable car. Large bedroom with king size bed.

The interiors are tired. Peeling paper and paintwork in the corridors and rooms.

I asked for a bright room on an upper floor and we recieved a lovely room on the top floor with views over the sea.

Unfortunately the Evening food was very poor , the quality was dreadful nearly cold the meat was tough the food should be as good at the start of service as at the end having paid £220 for a night to be told the sea Veiw seats in the dining room are for the private quests felt like being on the titanic pushed to the second rate seats .we will stay again but will NEVER EAT IN YOUR RESTAURANT AGAIN very very disappointed

Very dusty room Hate to say it but some of the staff were very smelly and wore dirty clothes Also some very angry drunks were staying which made it unpleasant and made it feel un safe while staff just stood and said nothing Rooms are very out dated and so are the room keys

Forgot how awful the beds are!! Seriously need new matress and pillows,so hard it's like sleeping on wood,which I think would be more comfortable!!!
