Because the hotel is old, it could do with some updating. But that is part of its charm and character.

The location was great, a short walking distance into the main town centre and there was ample parking. The hotel was old but full of charm. The meals/food was good and great value.

Room and breakfast was good , staff very friendly. Only issues were car parking. There was no clear structure to where to park , cars were parked quite widely and if there were lined bays then more cars would have been able to park . At the entrance we arrived, we could not park at all or get to turn around, there was a car parked in such a way that no one could get in or out , ( this was as we now know the back entrance) we had to wait for such a long time to find a space and wait till this driver moved his car , we were delayed but quite some time trying to get booked in because of this , another driver had to go speak with staff to find the owner of this vehicle to then come and remove it , wasn't the best start to be honest, then once it had been removed, we then found out there is a bigger car park around the other side of the hotel , again no one told us , it was another guest who came over and told us where to go . So more clear signage as to where to park. We went round and found the 2nd carpark but that was full up too so again we had to wait , it was quite busy with people booked in for Sunday lunch and not actual staying guests .

I can not say I did not like it, but the Hotel start to be slightly tired, I am pretty sure quite a while this Hotel was magnificent, but we will come back.

Single room was tiny and bed was not a full size single . Bed was uncomfortable Would not recommend the single rooms - they are awful.

The cooked breakfast was ok, but wasn't keen on the sausages and bacon but that was probably just me.

The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had the best nights sleep, it was so quiet too.

Lack of nightly entertainment, it was only on Wednesday and Thursday. The singer on Wednesday was good...on Thursday was very poor ourselves and several other couples walked out.

A very relaxed atmosphere. Majority of the staff were 1st class. The room was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Nothing to dislike at all.

All the staff that we met were very friendly, especially the lovely lady on reception when we checked in. Very big free car park. Sunday lunch was superb, beautifully cooked and very tasty. There was lots of meats and veg to choose from too. Our room 418 was lovely and very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious with lots of items to choose from. We will definitely be back again.

Room 332 single room .at 05.00, the ventilation fan is turned on for the kitchen. This was found to be disturbing as the fan is outside the window and unable to sleep..this should be noted to the customer and at least offered a % discount because of the noise.

I arrived cold and wet and had to wait 2 hours for my room to be ready....these things happen and if it wasn't for the atrocious weather it wouldn't have been a problem...id have just gone for walk...on the plus side the complementary coffee was very nice 😊

The young girl at the front desk was not very forth coming with the facilities services. Ie, never mentioned that there was afternoon tea available and that the bar was open.

The meals were well prepared and the service was excellent. The internet connection was great, I had no problem getting on.

En suite shower room was very small but we opted for the cheapest room so can't complain
