    Parking is tight and limited.

Unique building makes for an interesting stay. Staff very friendly and look after guests. Comfortable and clean. Creaking floorboards but not surprising in such a historic building. Good food and excellent restaurant service.

A very pleasant short stay, would definitely consider returning.

Although there was a lovely indoor swimming pool of decent size, the changing room was very small and basic, really only room for one person at a time, and no where relatively dry to get dressed.

The room was spacious with everything you might need. It had a view of the sea across the front forecourt. The quickest route to reception and the restaurant was via the car park, otherwise it was a bit of a rabbit warren through the corridors and stairs. The food was very good quality and there was plenty of it, I struggled to leave room for dessert. The service in the restaurant was very efficient and the staff very friendly and attentive. The hotel is a short walk from the beach and the town, and you don't have to walk up much of hill at at when returning.

A pleasant stay in a delightful town
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Single Room
    • Stayed 1 night

The mattress was extremely soft and not to my liking and my single room was unfortunately adjacent to the lift shaft which was noisy when in use.

A well placed hotel, near the sea front but in a quiet pleasant location. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the facilities were good. An excellent breakfast and worth the extra payment.

An excellent 60th anniversary in a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel - we'll be back !
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple

    1. The stairs! We were in room 32 which was the furthest room from reception & the dining room - even the corridors had steps up & down ! 2. The bar only had 1 single malt whisky & that was not replenished when it ran out on the 1st night .

Although we have stayed in Sidmouth several times ,this time on the occasion of our 60th wedding anniversary, we decided to go for a smaller, interesting looking hotel. We could not have chosen better than The Royal Glen. Beautifully situated just back from the sea front, own carpark , friendly staff, & excellent food. Gabby was wonderful in the dining room & together with Bogdan made marvellous hosts.Breakfast was good with a good choice(the kippers were wonderful). Dinner (which we had on 2 nights) was excellent. Our room was clean & comfortable with a nice en-suite with a lovely powerful shower.

Early 10am check-out, unnecessary for peace of mind, though no one complained when we checked out 20 minutes late.

Lovely, bright bedroom with a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Elegant public rooms, nice gardens with sea view, and nice to have an early morning dip in the indoor pool. Staff were friendly. Great position within steps of seafront but away from crowds. Easy parking. Good internet.

It was quite a small room (26?) but nice outlook and very comfortable.

We appreciated that everything was clean and functioned well. Nothing was broken or not working. The pool is small but good if you want an early dip. Staff were helpful and very well mannered and caring.

The breakfast was ok but I would have preferred more choice as in being able to choose my own yoghurt without having to order it specially.I would also have liked pastries.

Very friendly staff, great location. Loved the pool.

Felt could have been a little more selection for buffett breakfast no bananas or yoghurt just would have liked option ofyoghurt with my cereal rather than milk but otgerwise all good.

Lovely hotel lots of character, we enjoyed the outside patio area and lounge loved the location of our room and view. Staff very helpful lovely pool and my partner enjoyed Gym but 1 was little disappointed no hand weights to suit me standard size weights appeared to be missing. had little issue with shower getting hot. We also were sure we requested the option to include breakfast but arrived to be told not included. It would appear from hotel this has happened with other booking. Com users so we will be taking this up with Booking.com. Otherwise really enjoyed our stay.

Decor was a little tired, could do with a lick of paint, but didn't spend much time there. The Towels! OK, if you were a child or very small and skinny, nice big bath sheets would be perfect!

The location was good. There was free parking, which is always a bonus. The staff were friendly and professional. Our room was large, clean and had good facilities. The swimming pool looked good but didn't use it. Food is also available but didn't avail ourselves.

    Choice of room

The location of the hotel is 5 mins walk for the promenade at Sidmouth and the spectacular views of the sea and red cliffs to east and west of the town . The hotel is really quaint and traditional with lovely white exterior and Devon Gothic windows . The grounds are lovely too and well kept . The food in the restaurant is really good - Sunday night dinner is splendid with Sunday roast done to perfection . Breakfast is delicious with fresh cooked options - haddock and bubble and squeak on offer . Afternoon tea too and a well stocked bar - all staff helpful and friendly . What more could you want ?the Royal Glen is a real gem in Sidmouth .
