Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe windows and outside décor of the block we were in are in desperate need of refurbishment. The block looks like its not had any paint for 50 years and really lets the whole thing down.
The reception staff were fantastic, friendly helpful and made all the difference. The room was fine internally - we were in the annex which used to be the staff block.

United KingdomNot a lot to comment on really, the bathroom was a little in need of a tidy up, but I've stayed in worse places and paid more money!
Great hotel in a good position. Free parking on the road outside. Some comments on here about it being a little tired etc . . . It is in places, creaky floorboards etc. . . . But the overall experience makes up for it. Would happily stay again. And great value for money, excellent breakfast!!! All the staff were excellent, very helpful. And Exmouth is a lovely place

Great breakfast, friendly staff, good location to the beach and town! Had a partial sea view, covered in pet by the tree line.

United KingdomI can’t say there was anything I didn’t like. My room could have been warmer the first night (I was in a courtyard room) but one mention from me and I was given a heater and some extra blankets. We stayed at the end of summer/beginning of autumn when the heating wasn’t needed but the nights could get cold, so not a hotel fault. Be aware that the hotel is on top of the cliff with a fairly shallow zig zag path down to the esplanade which was also wheelchair accessible
The position was very good, and the staff were so customer orientated and kind and helpful. In particular I have to say that Hannah and Chloe were always happy to go out of their way to make sure we got the most out of our stay.

United KingdomVery limited parking
My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend, we have stayed before and quite like the hotel it is in a very good location, the staff are very friendly, the Wi-Fi is good and even for vegetarians like us the breakfast is excellent. Unfortunately the parking is very limited and sometimes you have to park quite a long way from the hotel

United KingdomParking is difficult. We could not book a parking space in the hotel and while there is much on road parking it was all taken on our first drive round. This compounds the fact that the hotel does not serve dinner. Leaving your parking space to drive into town for food could mean there's nowhere to park on return. There is no grab handels in the bathroom to help access into the bath for the shower nor any anti slit mats. We felt this was dangerous. We were also staggered to find that extra payment was required if we asked for an extra egg for breakfast. This is a first for us in a hotel.
Room was large with a great view. Good to find two easy chairs. WiFi good and easy to use. Breakfast okay but nothing special.

United KingdomRoom was relatively small. Hotel is situated at the top of a hill which was fine for us but may not suit some people. We went first week of September and the bar area was not really used and not cosy or inviting.
Overlooking the sea 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Pool spa facilities were quiet and clean. Free private parking. Restaurant food was good. Restaurant and Patio overlooking the sea.
