Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSo much attention to detail and quality with focus on a positive experience….really nothing to improve.
Outstanding hospitality. This was our second occasion. We opted for location fully informed that there was no breakfast and we were a few miles from the nearest cluster of eating places so came prepared. We slept beautifully in the peaceful rural location and comfy 4 poster bed. The room and en suite were top to bottom clean and we were treated to a top of the range coffee machine. So much quality. When the internet went down, we contacted Jules who was on his own as Ausra was visiting family. He couldn’t have been more responsive and helpful and took an interest in our well being with chat and banter on both check-in and check-out. Even the turkeys and peahens in the grounds were friendly and followed us around when we went for a walk. An altogether memorable and relaxing experience….again!

United KingdomFrom the moment we were greeted on arrival to the moment we packed up the car to leave we couldn't have been happier with our experience here. We booked a last minute stay and were thoroughly impressed with the room, which was spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. We were in the room pictured and I must say the four poster bed was incredibly comfortable! In terms of location it was perfect, with many of the sites of the Lake District within a 30min drive, and the Ennersdale Brewery within walking distance where we had a lovely meal (the pint wasn't bad either). Also I would be amiss not to mention that my daughter has declared that her favourite part of the entire holiday was when our host Jules introduced us to, and let her stroke, one of the free range turkeys that roam the grounds.

United KingdomNot one thing
The property was spotless, the bedroom was very large and spacious with everything you could wish for. We were greeted by the owner who was friendly, informative, they even provide fresh milk in a fridge which is so much nicer than the uht and a treat. We loved the area! it had so many dog walks and a pub within walking distance what more could you ask for. I would honestly pay double what they charge and still be over the moon with our stay

Norway-
Rowrah Hall is located in a lovely area in a more quite corner of Lake District, and it's only a short drive from beautiful Ennerdale Water. The communication before our stay was clear and friendly, and the welcome was very warm. The house and the surroundings are charming, and our beautiful room totally exceeded our expectations. It was spacious & full of character, and all the little details in the room made our stay extra comfortable. Breakfast wasn't included in the room price but could be ordered separately, and it was delicious and very, very generous. Organising a little birthday surprise for my other half was not a problem either, and birthday cake, candles and a surprise birthday song made our breakfast even more perfect. Thank you for making our stay so special, we are looking forward to come back some day!

United KingdomHaving to catch a taxi to get there. Sterling taxis had a reckless woman pick us up in the morning. She was speeding, didn’t know where she was going and didn’t wear a seat belt. She said she was doing’school runs’ after us! It would be nice if recommended taxi firms are advised when booking
The spacious room and very tastefully furnished. Would love to stay longer

United StatesRowrah Hall was simply the most beautiful and bucolic place we've stayed at during our three week travels throughout the UK. It was like staying in a castle, beautiful building, beautiful rooms, lovely grounds, all the creature comforts you could ask for as well as the most luxurious bed and pillows! Our host was most gracious with great travel tips for us! Sorry we only stayed one night, could have stayed the entire trip!

United StatesA silly question. Our stay was memorable in every way!
Historic and extremely charming, Rowrah Hall provided us with exceptional lodging and hospitality. Jules, co-owner with his wife Ausra, have renovated an ancient property (1705) into an artfully designed boutique hotel that is a delight to the eye and the senses. Our large en-suite room featured a big four-poster bed with top-shelf linens and mattress, furniture that felt less like a hotel and more like a beautiful home, tiny twinkling lights in the shuttered windows and an array of tulips from the 10,000 bulbs Ausra planted across the lawns outside the manor house. Jules is a great conversationalist and a talented cook: our full English breakfast left us wanting nothing more for the day. If we could only live there!
